Does anyone know

Of some good camping sites.

This is following on from my Tent thread haha

I have been looking at a few today, and we have found one that doesn't sound to bad. it's called LEISURE caravan & Camping park in Tarelton, preton.

Sounds ok ..... We gave them a ring and it's £12 per night, can't grumble at that.

can anyone recommend anywhere??

I was hoping for some personal recommendation's from the good folks on here :D

It's not a bad site though, they have reviews on there that you can read about the site!!

Some of them are a NO NO lol ... some of them sound good though.

depends what you want Slinks. Camping comes in many flavours from farm with a field to full on entertainment complexes with clubs, entertainment, pools, playgrounds, bars, burger kings and pizza shops on site etc.

The latter obviously cost more than the former but you pays your money...

when its lovely kids will find stuff to do no matter where you are, when its peeing down they need entertainment....

We like the Haven sites which are the latter, there is everything from on site bars, pools, splashzones, bouncy castles, swings, you name it its got it. It not bad if you book when the offers are on. 3 nights this weekend cost us £40 all in (eleccy, own water tap, waste draineage etc in the caravan). Siobhan loves going to see Rory the Tiger, anxious the elephant..... do their show at 6:30. The club is brilliant and they have a full on amusement aracde. The artists that are on are meant to be good but Siobhan is always too tired so we end up going back to teh Van. There is also teh ducks and geese at Marton Mere where we go which teh kids love feeding.

Blue Dolphin nr filey/scarborough have a tenting & touring part on the outer of the main complex:D

Blue Dolphin has always been a favourite with my kids.

Avoid Ocean Edge at Heysham. It's nigh on impossible to hammer tent pegs in! You need industrial size tent pegs and a sledge hammer!

Re: Does anyone know

be very wary of sites with no facilities slinks, once with friends camped on a lovely quiet site, nr lancaster canal carnforth way, had a lovely fri night, sat, went fer a lovely meal by n olde worlde pub on the canal, wonderful, had a few bevys, returned to our tent, couple hrs later the rain started, as the field sloped down towards the canal, we were awakened by a bloody great river flowing through the tent, sleeping bags sodden n everything else, we packed up n went home 5-00 am sunday morning.:o so check the details if you choose one of them. x:eek:

That's just standard for Carnforth Cashy. We've spent many a soggy summer in a muddy field up there.

Not much off site locally you need to travel to sightsee but absolutely loads on park and really kiddie friendly.

Brilliant family room and adult entertainment too.

washing facilities spotless.

That will be down to the radiation from Heysham power station affecting the ground :D

Re: Does anyone know

It's actually all concrete rubble on reclaimed land which has a very thin layer of topsoil on. Nothing much to anchor into unless you have very. very strong pegs. :D We managed it with heavy duty ones and even through the worst of weather last summer the tent stayed up and in place!

The view of the power station does leave a lot to be desired though and the beach isn't exactly a beach - but if you don't mind walking a bit there is a lovely stretch of beach between Heysham and Morecambe.

If you fancy going a bit further there's a beautiful campsite near Corfe in Dorset.

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/de...asp?revid=1220

Incidentally it's the exact location for Mike Leigh's classic play Nuts in May, and hasn't changed at all since this was filmed in 1976.

By the way, I think they accept nuts there all year round, not just in May.:D
