New Year...........

What are Accywebbers doing tonight........? As its the first time we have been offered babysitting services for 5 years we are off to manchester later this afternoon to push the boat out............cocktails at Cloud 23 (top of Hilton Hotel) slap up meal at Dimitri`s greek taverna just accross the road then a few drinks down Deansgate, aiming to be back at home with the kids to see in the New Year though, hence the early start.......Happy Days.......(and no doubt i`ll be dragged in a few shops along the way)

Staying in and on my Doctors advice avoiding the bevvy. It will be the first time in the 18 years I have lived up here that I will be at home and sober on Hogmany.

Re: New Year...........

Well I'm siting down to a nice meal, cool bottle of white wine followed by liquor's and coffee and mints, then at midnight a nice fireworks display, all at Mallard Place. For the Fireworks, we just pop in the kitchen close the door keep the lights of and open the curtains and watch the sky's light up all over Ossy, and we don't have to put up with drunken idiots making a clown of themselves, plus its nice and warm too, sorted:rolleyes:

Re: New Year...........

I will be going out for a couple of hours, have a sitter available so might as well make the most of it. It'll be a sober one but should be fun (Dont like drinking knowing ive to get up early with the boys, twins and a hangover dont mix)

I am trying to normalise my sleep pattern - to 7 or 8 hours in one lump at night, so I had plans to be in bed.
Doh! - forgot about the fireworks - will have to nap this afternoon instead and start trying to be 'normal' again in 2009

Re: New Year...........

New year has never been a night that I have gone out, always enjoyed bringing the new year in with my two boys...this year they are both at two different parties... but I still don't fancy going out as it will be pure madness just trying to get a drink!!

I could also work as I know they need all the staff they can get but don't want to be knackered for New years day as have a special meal during the day followed by a special evening :)

So I think I will join my best friend down the road, have a few bevvies but not too much so I know when my lads are home

We stop in with the kids, get a few party snacks etc, then at midnight watch all the fireworks from the front door. The advantage of living on top of the mountain is you can see for miles :D

Staying in. Just had a nice hot bubbly bath, and sat in my nice warm fluffy dressing gown and cosy ugg type boots, sipping wine, surfing and watching TV. Rest of family doing their own thing. Hubby working, but we wouldn't be going out anyway if he wasn't. Haven't done that for years, it's usually complete madness.

You kiss people when the new year strikes - licking them is novel;)

Re: New Year...........

Seems a new tradition is becoming more and more entrenched in my area , members of one 'ethnic' group think its ok to go out at mid-night and shoot their guns into the air , the dumb idiots seem to forget that what goes up , eventually has to come down . Fortunatly the sheriffs dept. is getting wise and now sets up sound moniters which can recognize the sound of gunfire and triangalate the location , and go and pick the clowns up before damage is done .

Re: New Year...........

I'm staying at home, watching telly and having a few JD and cokes. :)

I've always disliked going out on New Year's Eve because I can't be doing with random strangers coming up to me at midnight, flinging their bulk at me and screeching 'Happy New Year'. :(

Due to this if I did go out I would come home before midnight.

We'll go out Friday or Saturday when this will not be happening, nor will we have to stand at the bar for half an hour to get a drink. :mosher:

Hope you all have a happy and healthy 2009.

Guess when you live in a place you tend to take it for granted , one of my favourite times is whenever I travel to the UK and the planes starts it descent into London from somewhere over Scotland and you see all the green fields and countryside spread-out down below you . ;)

Been a few bangs and multi coloured shouts but was quite subdued really. A sure sign the lack of spare coins is biting. Up here it would be the choice of fire works or booze and booze would win hands down.

Shock of shocks for the first time in over 18 years up hear I stayed in and not a drop of booze passed my lips. I have a bottle of whiskey 2 bottles of wine and my fridge drawer full of Becks.

Well We went to my sons where he and his wife had laid on a lovely buffet, had a few drinks to warm up then it was off to the casino where the atmosphere were just brilliant.
Although I didnt come out a millionairess, It offered everything under one roof, entertainment, dancing, reasonable bar prices and decent tables to have a nice little flutter on. :alright:
Happy new year everyone:arty::arty:
