There is only one chance of getting it right and i am useless at cutting glass also i would think the glass is tempered so need someone that is used to this . any one that can help please let me know ta i will pay for this being done by the way:D |
Re: Glass help
I have a glass cutter somehwere Mick, and have cut lots of glass, the trouble is, when you cut it, you have a very sharp edge, if you are ok with that, will cut it for you.

Re: Glass help
That would be great derek the sharp edge wont matter to much as once in the fridge it wont be comming out again i will sort a collection of the glass and let you know .
Sometime during the week but over in Preston tomorrow will pm you when i have the glass thanks |
Re: Glass help
Ok no problem!

Re: Glass help
Slight problem Mick, if it's toughened glass and you attempt to cut it, it will just shatter into tiny pieces because of the heat treatment that it will have had.

Re: Glass help
I would expect a fridge glass shelf to be toughened glass. If it is you will be unable to cut it. The guy at Victoria glass explained to me that they toughen the glass after it has been cut because you can't cut it afterwards.

Re: Glass help
had the same problem mick, a holiday maker broke ours in spain, we were told by a few folk to get one cut with a firm or it would shatter if they cut it. we just bought a piece of toughened glass from them. car is off road at moment, but if ya can get a lift, have a sneck up Whinney Hill Tip, theres usually a few fridges up yon, ya may get one the size ya want.

You could be lucky, but if you are going to cut it do it outside in a place that can easily be swept otherwise you will be picking up tiny pieces for ever and a day when toughened glass shatters it goes everywhere. :D |

Re: Glass help
When I sent my old slimline fridge for scrap a year ago, I thought that the glass shelves were too good to scrap.
I saved 3 of them and they are a good fit for my bathroom windowsill, where I put potted plants in summer. I could live without them if you seem to have greater need. The fridge shelves were 'split shelves' - ie each were in 2 parts The 3 I kept all measure 37cm x 16cm If they will fit - you are welcome to them Ps just seen earlier posts - wont fit will they? |
