How much sleep do you need and how much do you get
How much sleep do you need and how much do you get? Well they say that as you get older you don't need a lot of sleep, the reason I've brought this up is that last night I had the best nights sleep Ive had for years and I didn't have any anesthetic either.:D I watched the football then a program on Sky, switched the telly of at 11pm, I woke up at 5-30m. I usually wake up a couple of times during the night and use the bathroom but not last night, I ain't done that for years

I need more than i am getting bed at 12 read till 12-30 up at 2 for bathroom back to bed then up at 5 ish

I 'need' about 6 hours but I can make do with less for a week or so. It doesn't bother me if its broken up into smaller chunks either which is handy when I do on call :D
occasionally I like a 9 or 10 hour session to blast out any cobwebs but its rare with Siobhan and of course now Joseph.... I do find that sleep when tee total does seem more valuable than when its after a few shandies... |

People generally live longer when they have between four and seven hours sleep.

I usually have about 4 hours unbroken sleep, I wake up about 4am and then sleep fitfully until 6am in term time.....7am out of term.
It does for me just fine...and if i have a couple of bad nights I take a homeopathic remedy and then I am out for the count. |

teh daft thing is booze is a stimulant so its more likelyto keep you up than get you to sleep...

I could write an essay on the benefits of sleep, but it would put you all to sleep. :D
Because of all the drugs, currently up to 15 different ones, and a daily total of 37, which means if I do manage to visit the land of Nod I have drenching torso sweats. Which mean if I do sleep, I sleep in a puddle, because of a waterproof cover protecting the mattress. The only upside to this is that in the very vivid dreams I now have I'm often swimming in the sea, so at least I'm getting exercise in my slumber.:D |

That's extremely tough and unpleasant Rindy, both for you to suffer with it and for us having to imagine it. ;)
I tend to do ok on 7 hours sleep, which I do tend to get each night. I'm usually asleep for 11pm and awake at 6am. |

how much sleep do i get .... not enough especially at the minute .. they start work on the offices across the road at 7.30am:eek::eek::eek: that wakes me up though i do go back to sleep eventually ... :p |

about 5 hours, go to bed about 1 ish and i'm always awake at 6

As much as I can get and wherever I can get it - sleep that is!
Usually about 7-8 hours a night but I could easily sleep for 12+ |

with not getting to bed till anything between 2-00 n 4-00 normally i tend to rise between 9-00 n 10-00, not great but can't do sod all about it.:)

I go to bed when I'm tired ... and wake up a few hours later .... not too much pattern in my sleeping habits .... but I can sleep anywhere; once fell asleep in a phone booth in Ossy after too long in the Black Dog. A nice gentleman in a blue uniform and a funny hat woke me up.

Monday to Friday i have about 6 - 7 hours sleep, at weekends maybe an hour more. Could do with a lot more on all days, but trouble is once i wake up it is very rare i can get back to sleep.

I get to bed between 11 and 11.30 but don't get to sleep for at least half hour most nights. I then usually wake up about 4 ish for an hour or so, then I get back to sleep till about 7 ish.
I usually seem to manage ok on that. |

When I was working I got about 6 hours a night and thrived on it. Now, particularly since my illness, I go to bed about midnight and sleep until about 9. I do get up 2 or 3 times to go to the loo but I'm hardly awake. I also nod off if I sit with my feet up watching telly, usually only for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, I call it power napping. :)

I could quite happily sleep midnight - 2pm however oft have to be up at 6.30 to get to work... when at uni earliest i'll get up is 9am and it feels like hell... would rather get up after 3 hours sleep than 6 hours

I get about 4 - 5 hours sleep a night... if I get really tired then I can have a power nap early eve for about 20 mins... but since getting ill I could sleep anywhere and everywhere as my sleep pattern has been shot to bits

Depends when I go to bed.. normally about 6 hours but I always wake up early morning so if I've been out late it can be 2/3 hours :p

I sleep 10-11 hours solid every night never wake up in the night, feel great from it though, sleep much more now than in my i did when i was younger, mum is the same.

Interesting to i drink a lot of coffee throughout the day also prior to retiring to bed, supposed to keep you from sleeping.

Worknights I am usually wanting to go to bed before the child! Anything from 10 pm onwards, I have to be up at 7 every day and my job is both physically and mentally tiring, not to mention the extra hour+ travelling. I do sometimes suffer from repetitve thoughts/dreams and use Bach Night Rescue remedy to counteract those. I would sleep till 7 each morning if it weren't for my dumb neighbour having her radio on so loud I can name the tune!:rolleyes:

When I was working I discovered a scientific fact (Oh, yes, I'm not just a pretty face).
There is a little trip-switch inside the brain of everyone who has to get up around 7 a.m. This means that if you have a bad night, and many of us have from time to time, and you can't sleep or are awake from, say, 2 a.m., the minute it gets to 7 o clock the switch trips and you can then sleep "for England". It's no use arguing with me that this is not correct. I know this from repeated experiments and it has been confirmed by colleagues, friends, relations, neighbours and distant acquaintances, all of whom have bloodshot eyes with bags underneath. There's not a lot of people know that. :D |

I need a lot of sleep.
I get little sleep. I get up at 8AM, generally go to bed at midnight or after. I often dont get to bed till 12:55 - later if I'm doing some heavy web research into something. There is not enough time in a day to do everything that needs doing. :( |
