Are there any alternative auction sites to ebay

ebay are getting too up their own backsides for their own good

for example i wanted to auction off a pc game and they wont allow me to charge for postage and packaging even if you start your auction at 99p which could actually result in gaining a loss if it sold for 99p

apparently their customer feedback says customers would like to see free postage and packaging, well duh lol i would love to see free gas and electricity coming into my home but it aint gonna happen:rolleyes:

i emailed their customer support pointing out that until royal mail started delivering for free and teh stationary shop provided me with free jiffy bags then i would be stating in my auctions that i will be ading a postage fee to the total after the auction ends

ebay didnt like that lol

I agree its ridiculous. Its more for the buyer now than the seller, but what they don't seem to realise is its us sellers what make them their money!

There is ebid and also tazbar. I've never listed on either of them so can't vouch for them but I think with Ebid, you can leave your item on there until its sold (or at least you used to be able to).

The thing which really gets up my nose is you can no longer leave a buyer neg feedback - whats the point of that? If we get non payers we are supposed to leave positive??!

Problem is too many people have abused the postage and package scheme to lower the sale price to ridicolous amounts and add it to the p&p so they don't pay commision.

Re: Are there any alternative auction sites to ebay

had an intersting chat with paypal today and they admitted that if a customer starts a claim/dispute in under the category item not as described they will automaticly side with teh buyer regardless

people selling have posted horror stories on ebay's forums where customers have even stooped as low as getting their refund and retuning an empty box by recorded delivery but because you cant prove the box was empty paypal couldnt give a toss so you loose the money and teh item.

Luckily i have only been ripped off a small amount of money but under these new rules people have lost out on hundreds of pounds worth of goods so my advice would be not to accept paypal payment if you sell on ebay and ask to be paid by postal order especially for expensive goods because they can start a dispute many weeks after and get a refund even if you dont have teh money in your paypal account and chase you for the money

i certainly wont be using paypal again to accept payments thats for sure.

in effect with paypals new policy you could buy a ring for £500 and start a item not as described dispute and automaticly win within a few days, retun an empty box recorded delivery and provide paypal with teh tracking information. You keep teh ring and get a full refund

I've recently found a site that does auctions. They are not big, but I think they are becoming better known...

They allow you to auction things for no cost (I think) ...I'd try 'em anyway

Wholesale Clearance Surplus Excess Cheap Pallets Bankrupt Stock

Scroll down and on lower left you'll se a link to auctions. Some of the auctions on there are on ebay too I've noticed.
