Where to find land for rent or sale

Hey all,
Maybe I should have put this under buy/sell/swap but I didn't.

My hubby n I are thinking of trying to get a bit of land either to buy if it's affordable or to rent. We have an allotment we are giving up....(nightmare one way & another) but we would like to get some land privately.
We intend to just grow some veg etc and put a bee-hive or 2 there. We would also like to have chickens (we have them at the moment and enjoy the free eggs). :egged: So, the area doesn't need to be huge, just workable - which the allotment we had isn't.
There seems to be bits of land around everywhere but who owns it, how do you find out about it etc?
Any tips?

Do you feed free chickens free food to get free eggs?

Not many things are free in life so you must be doing well :D

HA HA!
No they aren't free eggs then. But we do pretty well feeding the hens kitchen scraps though...peelings and so on and they love stale fruitcake! And no the eggs don't taste of currants!

I can get free eggs but don't.

We have a policy of "whoever looks after the hens get the eggs", which I think is fair enough when they are looked after by volunteers.

Anyone want to volunteer for locking up in the evening?:D
