It's a shame in some ways, that part of our past will be no more, but it doesn't rate highly on any architectural list of beauties, and since it's stood empty for years, has been an eyesore.

Think its just another step on the ever changing face of Ossy Garinda, how Union Road has changed since I was a school kid (I know it was a long time since) The area from the Town Hall (Civic Theatre) down towards St Paul's school as all changed, Foxhill Grove Church gone, the area around the Library well across the road has all changed the old Co-op building gone and now replaced with a church, nearly all the mills have gone or are being used for other purposes, the Fire Station gone replaced by a Super Market oh hum:rolleyes:

Even in my lifetime there's been many changes.

Some for the better, some not.

Personally I won't be too sad, seeing the Palladium demolished.

Not so sure myself Garinda, properly maintained it would have been better standing than a pile of rubble

If it was in use, but the chances are that if empty, and without someone occupying it, it wouldn't have been adequately maintained. As has been the case.

Obviously, because it was empty for so long, it didn't hold much appeal, to those seeking suitable premises.

That was really my point Garinda, its just a shame that nobody could see the building as a going concern and it became such a mess, the thing is what will replace it

Re: ossy Palladium cinema

I'm wondering if the company that is the present owner ... Everlux Ele. just bought it for the assets inside the Palladium as they do install bingo equipment, etc., to other buildings. The intention was then to sell the building after they had stripped it ... it did go up for sale again immediately after.

Mind you, no building to sell now, however, they must have known that a demolition enforcement would be put on it so, maybe, selling just the land is a better option.

Oh dear, speculating again aren't I .. makes sense though.

Not sure whether Ossy Mills would wish to make any further investment at this time.
