Well I paid fractionally more for my GHD's than the cheap pair, so i reckon that I got a bargain......and I am quite happy with mine......far superior to the cheaper ones.

They dont have solid ceramic plates for a start. They are aluminium with brown stuff on them. the plastic that holds the plates in place is poor and goes brittle in time.

The new pink ones are worse. The cases appear quite fragile. I know someones who fell from the dressing tables onto the carpet floor and the cracked very badly. Not what you expect for well over £100

I was expecting them to be better quality in terms of feel as well, but in terms of my hair they are definitely better than cheap hair straighteners so I'm not entirely sure what it is that makes them so great. I've had sturdier feeling straighteners that just don't get the same result. It's strange. I'm going to be very careful with mine :)

What makes them great is the results you achieve.....it is no good a product feeling good but performing badly. So you have actually answered the question yourself, by telling us that you have achieved superior results.

Yes but I meant I'm not entirely sure HOW they do that when in terms of the material they're made out of they are cheaper.

they are not as hot as some others either, most I have tested are around the 185 to 195 degrees c mark. Rhonda's are set at just over 200 degrees C as she wanted them to be hotter. The pink new style ones I tested where on the cooler side

GHD's are very good and are the most commonly known, but Kodo hair straighteners are just as good for a fraction of the price.

I've had my Kodo's for about 5 yrs, and used them a lot when I had long hair. As I have short hair now, I tend to use them for Siobhan's hair, they heat up very quickly and give a good result.

I suppose it depends on how much you want to spend on a pair.

My GHDs take literally a few seconds to heat up, it's very impressive! They are even cooler than the temps you said though Neil at 175-185 degrees! They do the job perfectly though and I thought it might just be because I have fine hair but I had a go with them on my mum and sister's hair which is much thicker and they were just as good. My mum found they were also better than other straighteners I've had for curling and flicking hair as well.

I'm a very satisfied customer!
