he's a bit of everything, a very clever fella, if he can't do it he will recommend someone damn good to do it for you

He's a plumber/heating engineer.

While it is very common for them to do a little electrics while installing boilers etc they are not usually fully qualified electricians.

No offence to Derek but if you want an electrician then try the website I linked to.
Otherwise you may not get a competent one :D
