As someone has already said, It is a sad fact that a 'glassing' attack during a brawl is no longer news. This may shock those who live on the fringes of Hyndburn who escape witessing violence, but those living amongst it become 'de-sentised' to it. It is a way of coping with the problem.

Back in the 70s at Martholme Grange we used plastic glasses on Thursday and Friday disco nights, firstly I for one didn't fancy one in my face and secondly it kept the running costs down, very few got broken

I actually pressed to revert as I usually do when quoting on other peoples post Margaret, and I did on that one for sure

From my observations as an occaisional contributor I wouldn't say it's particularly healthy

Perhaps some of the reasons are

on some relatively serious issues we get the regulars who think its amusing to go completely off subject and have some injokes with their cronies that the majority of members can't understand (if you want to amuse yourselves why not go on facebook etc)

why do some members feel they have to contribute to every thread with ramblings that add nothing to the thread

this thred starts by asking about accyweb and it develops into a discussion about the merits of plastic glasses rather than the merits of the website

I appreciate that the above comments may not be well received by the incrowd that hog everything on the site. ( I would guess there are no more than 30 people who post more than 90% of the posts)

Don't forget where you left it.

Otherwise you'll reignite the forum, by starting another thread in Lost and Found.

Being a 'people person' I read through a few of your old posts.

Riveting stuff.

Keep 'em coming.

;)

Not much hope for your case.

if you're that bothered and find you're losing sleep over it...REPORT IT, if not...shut up and stop moaning

MargaretR 24-08-2010 17:49

Re: is accyweb dying?

I don't think posts have been off topic, because the thread starter quoted an act of violence which had not been reported here (which he considers would have been a thread topic in the past)

So the posts discussed the types of incident which may or may not be out of the norm and so be 'news'

We could have just responded - 'No it isn't' - and bored the pants off anyone reading it.
