Wheelie Bin
Oops think i posted it in the wrong thread before, so i will try here.
Has anybody any suggestions on how to stop the wheelie bins from stinking, is there any sort of black bin liners you can buy? Any help would be appreciated. |
Re: Wheelie Bin
Do they not have a wheelie bin cleaning firm in the area? Maybe I ought to start one up. Its gotta be better than dealing with drunks on a coach at 2 in the morning!

Re: Wheelie Bin
Anything is better then dealing with drunks at 2 in morning, or any other time of day or night.

Re: Wheelie Bin
Big enough for a Wheelie Bin BILKO??
|
Re: Wheelie Bin
I just fill ordinary bin bags in a small bin first and then transfer them to the wheelie bin which keeps loose contents away from the insides of the wheelie bin. Even so I will need to clean mine out because something must have got loose. How much are you thinking of charging for your services Busman?:s_jplol:

Re: Wheelie Bin
I know what BILKO means but most bags are so easily ripped allowing the contents to fall into the bottom of the wheelie bin, and with the best intentions in the world, there is always THAT time when gooey rubbish is thrown in loose because it is too time-consuming to get another bag out of the cupboard...especially if there are children in the family!
I put my hands up to occasionally pulling up weeds as I pass and putting them straight in the wheelie bin! |

I am not sure how to answer that one Willow;) |
Re: Wheelie Bin
Well I think its a stupid idea and that there was nothing wrong with just bagging up the rubbish and putting it out for binmen but then i suppose everyone is to there own

Re: Wheelie Bin
That's all very well Steph until you have backstreets full of rubbish which has come out of bags ripped open by cats etc.. Even bags which were put out on the morning of the collection often ended up being ripped open and the contents strewn around before the binmen arrived. I often had to put mine out the night before to be sure of catching them the next morning so that meant they were available all night.
Unfortunately I don't think there is an ideal solution which will suit everyone. The wheelie bins are very difficult for some people to negotiate. The old bins which lived in a "bin hole" accessible from the yard and from the backstreet weren't too bad but not everyone these days has a bin hole. And even those had the problem that they provide access to the backyard for anyone who wants to climb through them (and believe me kids do) |
Re: Wheelie Bin
Sara you can get wheelie bin bags from most places now like asda if you line your bin with one of these then continue to bag up your rubbish there will be less chance of goo at the bottom of your bin.

Re: Wheelie Bin
Are HBC going to carry on handing out black bags? Don't mind either way, as they are not too expensive, and smelly rubbish can always be put into a carrier bag (good way of using them up, folks) before putting in the black bag. Again, it's the pythons that worry me, can we be sure they are dead and not just digesting? (See previous wheelie bin thread).

Re: Wheelie Bin
My wheelie bin is new (only had it for 3 weeks) so it hasn't started ponging yet. I have been putting the rubbish into a bin bag first to try to avoid goo, but to be honest I find the bin cumbersome. I have a big step down from my yard to the back alley which is hard to negociate with the wheelie bin. I have very little rubbish, as I re-cycle most things so my neighbours have put my black bag in their bin on the last collection so that I wouldn't struggle with the step.:) So I give a gold clog award to my neighbours for their kindness.:D
