National Minimum Wage?
 
just trawling through the jobs and i came across this job, how can they get away with not paying the national minimum hourly rate?

(this isn't about a job so thats why i didn't put it in the jobs section, it's a question)

The pay for this job is within the minimum hourly rate
The current rates are:

•£5.93 - the main rate for workers aged 21 and over
•£4.92 - the 18-20 rate
•£3.64 - the 16-17 rate for workers above school leaving age but under 18
•£2.50 - the apprentice rate, for apprentices under 19 or 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship

thats ridiculous, the under 21 will be doing the job of an over 21, same hours and such

I think it's so configured to reflect experience, responsibilities, commitment & demands on earnings & such like.

when i was 16, i was on a YTS, i was earning £29.50 a week, for doing 40 hours

When I was 15 I was an apprentice bricklayer working 40 hours a week for £3 -11 - 6d :p:alright:

when 15 i was on £2-50 a week fer 5 days plus 3 hrs overtime on friday, oh the overtime pay was Fish n Chips, yahs don't know yer born.:D

I left school at 14, my first weeks wage was 17s-6d.
when I finished my apprenticeship at the age of 21, I was
on 9-8-6d.
Now you expect to be paid that an hour, phew.

i havent even got a clue how much money you just said you where paid, i'm from the pounds and pence era ;) :D

Thats what I've put it in Pound Shillings and Pence if your from that era, then you should recognise how it was written 9-8s-6d.
Can't find the dammed pound symbol, its not where it should be.
