Have you got anything old in your home
Still blowing strong! The hairdryer Made in Britain 80 years ago | Mail Online
After seeing this article I was wondering what other people have in their homes that they've had for years. The only thing I can come up with is a Mirror which hangs on my bedroom wall was a wedding present when I first got married in 1967 so its 43 years old |

Re: Have you got anything old in your home
I have a chamber pot which was a wedding present to my mum and dad in the 30s.
I also have a solid silver thimble which belonged to my dad's mother -I could date it if I could be bothered to research the hallmark - all I know is that it is 'pre 1900'. I have three silver medals which my dad won in the 1920s/30s for cycle racing. |
Re: Have you got anything old in your home
I have my grandma's old hoover from the 1950's which still works and gets used in an emergency.
I also have my favourite telephone which is one of the old black bakelite one's from the 1950's and of course my red telephone box on the drive |

Re: Have you got anything old in your home
The oldest thing in my house is the card congratulating my mum when I was born nearly 73 years ago and then a card saying I had been immunised against diphtheria on the 28/04/1942 at the Abraham Ormerod medical Centre Todmorden.

have the remanants of the tea service that was given to my mum and dad when they got wed in 1947 .... 3 cups a couple of saucers are left .. with other bits and pieces like that .. also a knife that my brother can remember using when he was a kid .. and i still use it today ...
can remember when i was a kid .. my dad spent £6 on pair of fiskars scissors ... the long life ones they'd just come out .. came in very proud .. seeing as we kept losing em .. and he said he'd never have to buy another pair of scissors again ... mum shouted at him for spending that much money on a pair of scissors .. thing is though that was true .. he never bought another pair of scissors ... and theyre still going strong today .... lol |

A bread saw that was given to my Auntie as a wedding present .......she died aged 90 some 25 years ago so, not sure how old, but it must be coming up to (or maybe past) its' centenary.
The Handle is a bit wobbly but the blade is still as good as ever. Next to that, I have a dishwasher circa 1943, his name is David :D |
