Re: Care Homes/Assisted Living

To get sheltered accommodation locally you will need to be registered with b-with-us
PennineLancashire - Who Can Use the Service
The vacancies are advertised there. Park view, Kirk house, Merlin court are just a few that I know of, who advertise their vacancies there.
When you apply, you get a home interview to assess your need and allocate priority for rehousing.

The 'die off rate' is more than other types of housing (I know that sounds insensitive but how can I put it otherwise), so vacancies crop up often.

I have seen that one on the b-with-us too.
Rent there is a lot higher than the others.

It is part of the group I live with now and although not everyones choice I think moving here was the best thing I ever did (after losing Ian). You can choose the privacy of your own place or join in with other people in the residents lounge. I have found the mix to suit me perfectly but others could hate it, it really is all about how you want to live. Sometimes I want to be alone but for most of the time I prefer some company:)

Hynd Brook House, Hyndburn, Lancashire, BB5 0DA | Housing with care, assisted living, close care, continuing care housing

As I stated, heard good reports. Maybe the rent reflects the care and or added bonuses. Like no seperate laundry costs, heating and hot water added in to your rent. Have you looked into all this when comparing the rents?

When b-with-us advertises that home it doesn't show that much detail - perhaps it should.

That's it you try and make her feel worse than she already does.

Its obvious that is true but a little sensitivity would be nice.

I think that is what she needs as she does like her own space but would benifit from being around others. She has become dependent on me and my Mum and to be honest she needs interaction with other people to keep her spirits up as she must get bored with us!!!
I have drove past Hynd Brook house in the last few days and it looks nice from the outside, very well kept.
Will deff be looking into this one thanks

I found this report online
http://62.73.173.233/CSCI/CRH/89/ES0...6697.R01.S.pdf

It is long - I only read part of it - from what I read, it appears that it is specifically for dementia sufferers - you might find different if you read all of it.

Thank You, it seems that there are 50 places for Dementia and 50 places for "Old Age" residents.
Think I will pop in and ask the question, wont do any harm will it

Reading this thread shows Accy Web when it's working at it's best. Providing advice, and support for someone who who needs it.

Heth, the love and concern you show for you grandmother, and your mum, is admirable.

I genuinely hope you find a place where your grandmother will feel safe, and happy, and the rest of your family will have some comfort that she's getting the care she needs.

Good luck.
