Great news that you have got her settled somewhere that meets your approval and hopefully her's in the long run. It's shameful that you were given so little notice about her discharge from hospital, and I would be writing a letter of complaint about that. Hope things work out for her there.

Thanks Lindsay :D

We aint got a leg to stand on as my Grandma said yes to going home, thats the thing. Even though we know that she was confused and cant remember much she can still speak to the doc's and thats enough for the doc's to discharge.

It aint good at all but thats how the NHS go at the mo.:(

Re: Care Homes/Assisted Living

Hi All,

Just a lil update – MY GRANDMA IS BACK HOME!!!! :dancedog:

Me and my Mum decided that she were ready to go home and my Grandma felt ready aswell, even though she couldn’t remember were “home” was!! :D

She is happy as larry though with not a care in the world! Its us that are scared!

She still has the carers going in the morning to help her shower and dress and then at bedtime but everything else my Mum does or I do if I aint at work. It’s tiring!!!

She has one of them lifelines on also but if something does happen I just hope that she remembers to press the button!

She isn’t as active now as she were before all this happened, going to do her little bit of shopping tire’s her out for 2 days but she is happy to stop in most of the time now.

I will say Addison Court have been very good to her, and they have told us that if we want any advice or help then to call them straight away which I thought were very good of them.

We know that the build up on her brain is going to happen again, we just don’t know when and there is nothing we can do to stop it. :(

Until then our aim is to keep her happy and safe. That’s all we can do.

That is wonderful....what good news.
Hope all goes well for you.
Take care of your own health though, it is so easy to forget about your own needs when taking on something like this.

Glad Grandma is in her own home again but as MargP pointed out you need to watch your own health as well. It is all to easy for carers to neglect their own welfare in situations like yours. Hope things continue in this positive vein for all of you:)

That's great news heth, there's no place like home when it comes to keeping people happy, I would sooner be at home than I hospital any day, and there are things in place to help in that respect, as the old saying goes There's no place like home
