My mum used to infuriate me by saying "Show me your friends and I'll tell you who you are" Funny she only said it when I brought someone hope that she had doubts about!! Another one was 'Don't speak until you are spoken to' THis has unforyunately earned me the reputation of being a rather 'cold' English lady over here! |

Re: Advice
Best advice I was given, be yourself and dont change who you are just to please people. If people dont like you just for you, they aint worth bothering with. I wear the clothes I like, have facial piercings cos I like them. Anybody who doesnt like them, they got the problem, not me

Re: Advice
Last night, going to bed, there was a rather nasty looking, but drowsy http://planetsmilies.net/animal-smiley-4915.gif crawling around the bathroom floor. The thought that I may have got up in the middle of the night to go to the loo, and trodden on the nasty creature, gives me cold sweats ...brrrrrr.

Re: Advice
I've been given plenty of advice over the years, much of which I'm thankful to say I didn't take, particularly when it came to romance.
My nana told me never to put all my eggs in one basket and never to wash cotton with taffeta, the former having been of most use to me. Whilst the old Latin phrase carpe deum isn't a bad ideology but I taken the biggest inspiration from my own family motto: non nabis salum (not for ourselves alone). There are other variations from American Moss families and also those from Norfolk and Kent but the Lancashire original is the one which provides a good life ethic and one I am trying to embody as a councillor. |
Re: Advice
When i embarked on the self employed part of my life in the pub trade i had never ever worked for myself before and a chappy from Huncoat said to me "you will get alsorts of people giving you alsorts of advice" but my advise to if you only remember this little one is "give a little and you will get a hell of alot back" and i always remenber this doing something for nothing quite often brings you alsorts back

Never look a gift horse in the bush, my old Grandad used to say, before they came to cart him off.

It's a shame you didn't get advice on spelling, grammer and punctuation, as it's terrible, almost non existent. It's as bad in your emails. Maybe you need to get yourself a secretary! |
