Fitness Equipment shops

The wife wants to get a few items to turn our spare room into a bit of a gym. Argos stuff is not good quality and breaks easily. We went to JJB and they have practically nothing. Does anyone know a shop that specialises in quality fitness equipment? I will be looking on the internet in a mo but thought there may be some fitness people here at accyweb that allready know!!! :)

To be honest Roy I think most of the gym equipment people buy for their homes is chep, flimsy and cr** not to mention expensive. You could try loose weights, bar bells, dumb bells etc. You can get these at most places. But you might find like one or two people that I know just end up having them lying around your home not being used.

I recommend joining a sports centre or equivalent and go there twice a week. The equipment is far far better than what we can buy for our own homes plus the fact if you join a particular club you will feel that you have to go, just so you can get your moneys worth out of it.

I've been going to the NEXT GENERATION in Chorley, about 20minuts away but I've been prepared to travel.

Sorry Roy I do not know of anywhere were you can buy good quality gym equipment.

Shame we didn't know before we did our car boot sale - you could have had some dumbells.

I tend to agree with Len that the best equipment is to be found in a gym/sports centre. You'd have to pay the earth to match their quality.

Roy - talk to me next weekend. The chap we bought our house from left various items, I think there are some weights, and there is certainly one of those bench things - you're welcome to them, just taking up space under the stairs that I need!

Follow the golden rule - don't buy anything until you're sure nobody's giving it away!
