No Cashy, it is a 'Clearing Out' sale.......I don't think they are closing(but I am happy to be corrected if anyone knows different), because the one in Bury had the same sign up at their window too.
There is a crafts shop opening soon......next door to where the junk jewellery shop was......let's see how long it lasts, eh?

Gibsons hasn't been the same since it was sold by the original owners, when they first open their shop was the first shop after the bridge on Blackburn Road, used to mate out with the owners son Mick Gibson, who took over running the shop from his dad, in the 70's

Arthur Gibson and family lived (next door to me) at 15 Hornby St during my childhood.
It was the home of Arthur's aunt, so it was at a time when the family was experiencing more humble beginnings.

I recall Arthur's active participation in golf - which was regarded as a rich man's pursuit at the time. I feel reasonably confident that those golfing connections are what led to the sports shop business.

His son Michael did 'play out' with us other kids on the street.
I recall him as a tallish, pale, very blond, sensitive lad. I have not met him since those childhood days.

Thanks for reminding me of Micks father, couldn't remember Arthur to save my life, and your right about the Golf Margaret, he was a very prominent member at Accrington Golf Club in the sixties, and Michael(was quite tall and blonde Margaret) became a very good golfer too, when I knew them they lived on Mayfield I think, but I haven't seen mick for years now
