If you could perhaps enlighten us as to why you would like the information, then someone may just oblige.
Forgive me for saying this, but you seem to have something of an obsession with retail outlets.

That's what shoplifters say.

There was that nice little shop, no longer there, selling....er.

It's on the tip of my tongue.

They had those things, in their window.

Called....er.

Whoops.

No.

It's gone.

Are those people, that some rude idiots call 'dummies', and who live in shop windows, your 'special friends'?

You knew there are all kinds of nasty bugs and diseases, you can pick up fron licking the glass in shop windows?

Better tell your 'special friends' too.

Best do it when the security guards are on their break though.

What is your aim Bee ?? Constant inane & irrelevant questions, what are you after proving ? The constant repetition is a little tiresome now & all you're doing is making yourself disliked & alienating many on here, mate, you need to buck up & stop being so petulant.

Did you know, the word Arndale is derived from the combined names of Arnold and Chippendale?

Why would they do that?

What was wrong with Chippenold?

'Just popping down the Chippie, to that shop, whose name I've forgotten.'

thought the first part of what they/we call the "Arndale" was built in the early 60s when they filled in the sunken gardens , and the shops/arcade at the rear were just an extension/lean-to of an existing structure ,
So am I right in thinking all the shops on Broadway lower down than the Odeon/Pickwick and the shop that later became Wardleworths new bookshop on the corner of Union st. including Woolworths and Marks and Spencers are part of the 'Arndale' ........ don't think we had 'Cell Phones/Mobiles' in those days.

Gibsons hasn't been the same since it was sold by the original owners, when they first open their shop was the first shop after the bridge on Blackburn Road, used to mate out with the owners son Mick Gibson, who took over running the shop from his dad, in the 70's

Arthur Gibson and family lived (next door to me) at 15 Hornby St during my childhood.
It was the home of Arthur's aunt, so it was at a time when the family was experiencing more humble beginnings.

I recall Arthur's active participation in golf - which was regarded as a rich man's pursuit at the time. I feel reasonably confident that those golfing connections are what led to the sports shop business.

His son Michael did 'play out' with us other kids on the street.
I recall him as a tallish, pale, very blond, sensitive lad. I have not met him since those childhood days.

Thanks for reminding me of Micks father, couldn't remember Arthur to save my life, and your right about the Golf Margaret, he was a very prominent member at Accrington Golf Club in the sixties, and Michael(was quite tall and blonde Margaret) became a very good golfer too, when I knew them they lived on Mayfield I think, but I haven't seen mick for years now
