Do you have 'trailer trash' in Canada, or is it too cold to live in trailers?

Don't you guys get "Trailer Park Boys" on one of your thousands of tv channels:confused: Great show:alright:

No, folks live in trailers year round. And then there are the super cold resistant trailers that the military use in places like Alert, Qikiqtaaluk, where it is a balmy -6 (wind chill -18) as we speak.

However, I think the article is meant to generate awareness of the insensitivity of law enforcement, and indeed the general public (or that portion of it who think wings are health food, and WWE is a sport,) to incidents of sexual assault: the "she-was-asking-for-it" line of thinking. "Slut" is obviously a pejorative. And I find it hard to come up with a male equivalent:confused: Call a man a slut, or stud muffin, and he treats it as a compliment, wears it like a badge of honor. Ironically, well, sort of ironically, the closest I can come up with is "fag".

This is not empty pc'ism. Women are being beaten and raped ... and still there are those who believe they "ask for it" ... no one asks for something like that.

Yeah ... but you are just buying into another stereotype: that it is only attractive, sexilly dressed, young women who are raped. This is obviously not the case ... except perhaps for date rape. Babies are raped, so are pensioners. And unless there are some significant changes in attitudes, both in law enforcement, the judiciary (and surely there must be some British examples of insensitivity on the bench ) and in the general population, the crimes will continue ... and so will the dismissive attitudes. The people at risk out there are our daughters, grand daughters, our wives, our partners, our mothers, our friends. Maybe the marches are fads. But the problem is real. Maybe the marches will achieve little ... But Pride Marches have gone some way to changing the attitudes of society to gays and lesbians.

Great post Eric and until people realise and change the "she was asking for it by the way she was dressed" attitude rape is going to be forever played down:mad:

Well, according to the "Guardian" the Slut Marches have reached the UK ... and they are spreading all over the world .... all because of some stupid comment by a dumb copper (sorry for the oxymoron) in TO. Trouble is, he made the comments to a group of female law students at Osgoode Hall Law School. I think he's played a lot of hockey, and stopped too many pucks with his pumpkin:D
