Vehicle Registration Numbers

Has anyone got a book which tells where and when a vehicle's number was issued. ? The one I have covers up to 1952. I want to know whe 696 FTE and PTE 195 was issued. They are both Lancashire County Couincil numbers, so issued in Preston. It will take a long time to find out from the Lancashire Archives, who will also be able to tell me about the first and subsequent owners .The second number was an Accrington Corporation 'bus - see Atarah's photo posting under 'Greenhalgh Family'

not quite sure what you are looking for? You already say its a preston issue number so what more info are you after?
