A question ...
for some members ...
why do you bother to post on accyweb when all you can say is a snide comment .... theres been a few examples of this today never mind in the past ... and it just seems that its getting worse .. and why do you post when you know that there is a good chance that some people will reply with a snide comment ... im just being nosy ... and i wonder if this will still be here when i get up tomorrow .... |
Re: A question ...

Re: A question ...
Sadly there are unnecessarily cruel people in real life too.
If you wanted to avoid them, you'd never leave the house. Friends of the boy who was mauled to death in Norway, set up a memorial page for people to share their grief and condolences. Sick people have posted nasty things on there. Two silly, nasty queens were banging on that they had no right being there, and the animal was only protecting it's 'babies'. Not even cubs, babies! There always will be those with low self-esteem, whose only comfort is being nasty. Fact of life. Won't stop me posting. Won't stop me venturing out into the real world either. |
Re: A question ...
to me accyweb has always been somewhere were you can have a discussion and a lot of fun ... looking at some of the posts that have been posted today it dont seem to be in the spirit of accyweb .. or well the spirit of accyweb as i know it ...

Personally, I would still join, yes. I honestly don't think the forum's any worse than in the past. Though I do think there's way less humour nowadays. I spent my childhood the target of snide name calling. Happily I've developed an incredibly thick skin now, so now such petty things don't bother me at all. Now I just pity such people. As I genuinely think they do it to compensate for having something vital missing in their life. Quite sad really. |

It did suprise me a little, that someone who knows me, would think I'd genuinely use some crass pun, after posting that I thought the tone of a thread was in very poor taste. It never even crossed my mind, and it seemed others too, until it was pointed out. Perhaps I'm sometimes suprisingly naive, especially because 'bearing grief' is a commonly used phrase at a time of death. Guess I'd rather carry on being dumb, than twisted enough to think it was an intentional attempt at some sick humour. |

Re: A question ...
Jen, you are right about people making snide comments.
It just seems to me to be a 'point scoring exercise'.........a bit like olden days, when people would take a trip to the lunatic asylum at Bethlem(bedlam)(that is what it was called then.....it would be mental instition now...or perhaps not) to make fun of the inmates. Maybe it somehow makes these people feel better, superior. And Garinda is right too, there will always be cruel people who without any thought for the feelings or sensitivities of others will post harsh unwarranted comments and derogatory remarks....just because they can. Now whether these people would do that in real life if you were face to face with them.....well, some would, but some wouldn't have the guts. |
Re: A question ...
Think Accy Web is very much like real life, if in real life you come across a numpty, you tell um so, no different on here, there can be some very good debates, but when people start a thread with a absolute stupid title to try and bring party politics into the arena as was done with the tottenham riots last night what do you expect
|
Re: A question ...
John, the difference is that many people in real life, would not be so very rude and discourteous...but because they sit at some computer screen tapping away anonymously (you wouldn't know many of these people on here if you met them in the street) they think they can say what they like regardless of how hurtful it can be.

Re: A question ...
yes John......I am sure there are people who are honest whether on here or out in the real world....but there are some who aren't.
They will take advantage of the fact that they can't be identified out in the real world....and have a pop at others....just to make themselves feel superior. As for Tealeaf. I will have to take your word. |
