Do you know who you might be?
:rolleyes:A recent post by Garinda fired my imagination. After much discussion about re-incarnation, in a thread about funerals he noted :
Quote : January '65. One in, me. One out, him. (Winston Churchill) Pity I don't believe in reincarnation. It would explain why I'm always giving people a two fingered salute." Made me think who it could be who popped off as I popped out -so to speak. A bit of research on the internet came up with the following: One in, me. Oct.10th 1963. One out - well two actually - Edith Piaf and a few hours later - reportedly because of grief at her death, Jean Cocteau. Edith - was Known as "The Little Sparrow" - my nickname at junior school was "Chaffinch" because of my surname. She was reportedly blind from the age of 3-7, I suffered severe damage to one eye as a result of measles at the age of 3. I had a natural inclination to learn and speak French at school and have always loved singing.;):rolleyes: I don't believe in reincarnation either but it is quite an interesting game to look for your hypothetical fore-bearer! Failing Edith, there was always: Leopold Friedrich Franz Sieghard Hubertus Erdmann, Hereditary Prince of Anhalt seems he died at the age of 25 on October 9th 1963. He was also Grand Master of the Order of Albert the Bear, which sounds like a lot of fun.:D Could explain my delusions of grandeur:rolleyes::p So the question is -who do you think you might have been? |
Re: Do you know who you might be?
Maybe I was Damon Runyon - but I haven't written any stories yet!

Re: Do you know who you might be?
Maybe I was Mrs Malaprop's husband:rolleyes::D

Re: Do you know who you might be?
The only notable person who died on my birthday was a Japanese admiral.....so although I accept that energy cannot be destroyed, it is always recycled........I have to concede that if I was reincarnated, it must have been as a commoner yet again.

Re: Do you know who you might be?
Never gave this matter any thought at all, but if it were to be the case, i was obviously a "Diplomat" in a previous life.:D

Hope you don't mind me looking up your birthday on your profile;) Edward George Villiers Stanley, 17th Earl of DerbyKG, GCB, GCVO, TD, PC, KGStJ, JP (died February 1948), known as Lord Stanley from 1893 to 1908, was a British soldier,Conservative politician, diplomat and racehorse owner. He was twice Secretary of State for War and also served as British Ambassador to France. :D He was a Lancashire peer - home Knowsley Hall. His biggest achievement though was his breeding of the horse Phalaris. Phalaris was a champion sprinter and a stallion par excellence responsible for establishing the most dominant sire line in Europe and later, the United States through his four sons - Sickle, Pharamond, Pharos and Fairway. Do you like a bet on the horses by any chance;) |
Re: Do you know who you might be?
Just a thought....would it not have to be someone who died at the time you were conceived rather than when you were born?

It is all a bit strange really, it does seem that one in one out holds in our family........when I had my daughter my husband lost his Aunt Nancy....well no he didn't lose her, she died....and I can think of many other hatchings coming close on the heels of dispatchings. |
Re: Do you know who you might be?
Having read quite a bit about the topic, I report that there is nothing to indicate that reincarnation happens soon after a death. On the contrary, some souls 'rest up' for centuries.
There is some evidence, from past life regression research, that there are 'soul groups' which reincarnate in order to 'meet again' in physical reality. I recall there was an Xfiles episode which illustrated this theory. |
Re: Do you know who you might be?
Well if it was on X Files it must be true! :-)
