Holland's Pies Vans

I've read in the paper recently that Holand's Pies are running a sort of competition to name their vans after Great Lancastrians. I'm surprised there's been nowt on here about it, but Claytoner's new thread about 'Greatest Lancastrians' makes me link the two. I haven't yet looked at Holland's website.

I had thought of sending some names in. My earliest thoughts were George Formby, Fred Dibnah and Tom Finney. I have dismissed Cashman, though he has a proud record of EATING pies. Atarah is another high on my list. Garinda ? - no, as he has an interest in a rival to Holland's .

This is a great idea - a bit like the Virgin Vans that are named after err... Vans (ie Van Hesling, Van Morrison etc).

Yes, well you are a man Cashy. I should've put Gracie Fields in......and Hylda Baker....born in Rochdale and Farnworth respectively.
Anyway, aren't you impressed that these sportsmen made it into my list(seeing as I hate sport)?
I think one van should be named Accrington Stanley......because everyone knows Accrington Stanley....almost everywhere I have been in the world...if you mention Accrington the word Stanley soon follows

Nat Lofthouse, The Lion of Vienna, and Mrs Doreen Lofthouse, owner of Fisherman's
Friends, who has set up a trust with her millions and greatly improved the sea-front at Fleetwood

Charles Halle, Mancunian

Thomas Beecham (though this may be a bitter pill to swallow for some folk)
