By Heck Today seems A Cold One.

We've escaped the worst of it looking around the Country but my marrow has never seemed so cold on such a sunny, wind chill free day, is it time to drag out the thermals? Or should we do what every sensible dormouse does?

I can recommend hibernation.
It also prevents contact with germ infested people.

Unfortunately I didn't properly 'emerge' during the brief summer due to the plague of flies and silver birch pollen.

I get my Vit D from a bottle :D

Cough, cough, splutter, splutter, no, I haven't got a cold or swine flu, I was just taking a swig of my coffee and got a reply from you that was close to friendly!

Winters seem to be getting cooler over there. Might be time to consider changing your national sport from football to Hockey ... let's face it; you guys suck big time at football. Anyway, soccer is a game for wimps and women ... I mean, look at the way supposedly grown men roll around in agony nursing a broken finger nail:rolleyes: Then they turn to the ref crying "That nasty man bumped into me and tried to take my ball." In Canada, the girls play football; and they do it well enough to beat England at the Olympics:alright: Real men play Hockey:theband: Buy skates for the kids this Christmas ... and a good dental plan; many a gobfull of teeth has been ruined by a puck travelling at warp speed:D "All shod with steel,/We hissed along the polished ice" ... there, even Wordsworth could skate:mosher:

You wouldn't get much stuffing in the one pictured. The Glis glis used by the Romans is the edible dormouse, a much bigger animal.

I once reported a restaurant that served suspicious looking 'chicken' - was probably cat - amazing what curry spices can do, but the texture wasn't chicken.

It was in Clayton.
I wont say the name because it was so long ago that it is likely to be under different ownership now.

The council dept told me that they would arrange an unannounced look in their fridges.

Well, I know I thought it a little chilly the other day, it seems however that is only the start, all sorts of predictions about coldest night on record, an absolute without a doubt, white krimbo for everyone and other record weather based breaking of records since they began.

Hang on though, I remember frost on the inside of windows, chilblains because you had to walk a mile and a half to school then sit there all day steaming because the pipes for the heating had frozen during the night and the caretaker therefore couldn't light the boiler.
Where we sent home? No, we sat there damp and miserable in front of damp and miserable teachers that traveled miles to teach us.

What will happen over the next fortnight?

Teachers and parents each having equipped themselves with 4X4's, (just in case).
Will refuse to take them out of their garages in case they get damaged.

The result of which is???

Loads and loads of kids get time off to go out sledging, building snowmen and generally doing what kids will do no matter how cold it is.

If I'm right I might even wear a top hat give and them something to aim at with their snowballs.
:D
