Where were you?

This is one for the Old Farts ... and Fartesses, can't forget the ladies.;) Someone once said that all the world's a stage ... no, that's Elvis ... let's start again.:D Someone once said that most folks ... that's those who were alive at the time and out of diapers ... can remember what they were doing when they heard that JFK had been assasinated. I remember fairly clearly ... only "fairly" 'cause I was drinking at the time, go figure, eh ... I was in the Con Club playing snooker, very badly as usual, on the table nearest the bar of course. And that was 50 bloody years ago, how tempus fugits. Anyone else remember?

Yep, I remember, I was at home primping and pampering, getting ready to go to Whalley Road Cong Youth Club, across the road from our house. Heady days... or maybe that was only my perfume, or scent as we probably called it in those days.

I had recently married and my husband had written a play for the Whalley Road Methodist A.D.S. in which I took the lead and we were at Jim Bowen's house in Burnley Road (of Bullseye fame) He was directing the play - but I think he was called Jim Whittaker then.

Yes, he was....I know this because his wife was our games teacher and she was Mrs Whittaker.

It was a Friday night, orders night at my dad`s grocers shop in Haslingden.Regular customers used to leave a list at the shop earlier in the day.Dad would pack the groceries into boxes and my job was to load them into dad`s Standard Vanguard car and then carry the boxes into the customers house. Two bob at Grandma`s made it worth it!
When we went into Mrs Warburton`s on Maple Avenue that`s when we heard the news..

He sat in the next desk to me at AGS - I often wonder if he remembers the day when his desk top was glued down:D

I was in a pub on the Woodhead Pass, getting cigarettes and a swift half, heading for Accrington for a weekend at home:)
