That is no good for Lancastrians...they wipe their noses on their sleeve:D.
I don't know anyone who uses real hankies these days.

You know me Margaret, I'm never without a clean handkerchief about my person.
I even have one in my dressing gown pocket at this moment as I sit here typing this text.

I do. This is from childhood when every day we had to hold our hankies up in Junior School. One time I had forgotten mine, so I was taken to the front of the class and smacked. Ever since, I feel naked if I am not carrying a hanky. I am 61 now, so this has stayed with me for over 50 years.

Bought another five of em' only last week. Never go out without them.

I use them too. Having a permanent nasal drip it would cost a fortune to use tissues.
It also saves trees and keeps down landfill.

I am just glad not to having to Lauder all those hankies.....sounds like you could keep a Chinese laundry in businesses:).

I always sent my kids to school with a little cotton hankie when they were small. Haven't seen one for ages.

We always took a cotton hankie to school tucked up our sleeves, I remember having one with Tufty embroidered on it that was my favourite - I lost others but never that one

Yes we were always asked at the door...have you been to the toilet, have you got clean underwear on, have you got a clean hankie???

Can you imagine the court case these days if a teacher asked if you're wearing clean underwear?

I was always told to wear clean underwear in case I was knocked down by a bus.

Which is a strange idea, 'Cos guess what first thing is you would do if you saw a bus heading towards you?

I remember(in my youf) seeing little old men, bowed over, in long grey coats, wandering around the town centre looking in the gutters for 'fag ends'.
They probably weren't old(worn out early by working in the mines or mills) but they looked it.The good old days?
They all had one thing in common- a big 'dewdrop' on the end of their noses. It was that I noticed most.
Now, in my old age, I have the same problem as MargaretR has and they had- a permanently runny nose.
I haven't got a cold, it's just like a dogs nose- wet!
Funnily enough sitting down for a hot meal really sets it off?
So I always have a hanky handy and yes I go through a few. Don't want a pocket full of soggy tissues.
The joys of getting old- I'm thinking of buying a long grey coat but I'll draw the line at old 'fag ends'.

Why restrict yourself? These days with modern dye stuff your coat doesn't have to be grey.
