Ok…it is said that ‘gotten’ goes back to the 12th century and is an old Norse word……but still…..not commonly used in the UK.
Much more used in the US.
In the UK ‘got’ is the past tense of ‘get’…..and the past participle of get….is got.

Yep, it applies, but lets face it there are plenty of us uglys to go around and even we have managed to breed a generation of even uglier folk.
When you think about it, anyone that had the idea of creating a master race of blonde, blue eyed children was on a loser, we breed many more and much quicker than they ever could!

Re: Prawns

By the way, if you need proof that there are plenty of uglys, why do so many women prefer doing it doggie style?
Because that way no-one has to wear the brown paper bag!

Lots of good looking ladies are attracted to less-hansome-men,it all depends on the size of his (wait for it), Bank account.

That Woodnook education has stood you in good stead Marge.

Re: Prawns

Taddy it was not the Woodnook education that did it.
It is what has happened since. Further education is a wonderful thing. I came away from Woodnook with no exam successes….but I made up for it later.
Learning continues until you take your last breath….and I am a curious old bird that likes to know things.
Son…..Ill begotten is acceptable because it is totally different to the lazy ‘gotten’ used by Americans.
Methinks you might have been watching too much Yankee stuff.

Looks are very fleeting.(and not to be relied upon)
Some of the young lads I might have thought were handsome look much less so as they have added years.
But looks might catch the girl, but it is charm, personality, and a sense of humour that will keep her.

Dear me, Less – does the fact you know what most women prefer imply that you are a man of great personal experience or simply a prolific reader? Perhaps best not answer that.

Re: Prawns

The evidence of that, Taddy, can often be seen in the social pages.

I used to work in a factory that had over 300 women and only about 20 men in it, If there is one thing you soon learn as you walk around the production lines it's the fact that when so many women dominate a work space they will discuss many intimate details and they don't care who hears them.

Not too dis-similar from all male work places then Less.
(The evidence for my comment came from having five brothers who were happy to talk about what was said in their workplace….engineering factory, garage workshop….etc).

Just the same though, on the last day before Christmas the male staff at that factory weren't allowed on the factory floor for their own safety, because after the traditional let's all go to the pub and get a few xmas drinks in on returning from 'lunch' most of the women left their morals next to their clocking in cards downstairs and any lone male was easy game for a strip down and being paraded around the factory!

They sound like a charming bunch.
I am glad I wasn’t working there.
