Do You Have A Daily Ritual?

I have, One of the first things I do when I get up is get my coffee brewed, then when it's in the mug I gently pour in the milk and watch the clouds that form, I then inevitably say, 'Good morning World, it's a brand new day'.

Is this a sign of optimism?

No Less..it is a sign that you are bored and short of something to do.

Yes I have a ritual...I open my eyes and think to myself...,here I am still above the sod and an irritant to someone for not being dead'

You mean….a bit like a mozzie flying round your head……the thing about those little things is…..while they are buzzing….they aren’t biting….when they stop buzzing…that’s when you need to worry.

No, It's a sign of realising that you are getting older, as am I

Of course I have a daily ritual, As soon as our cuckoo clock strikes 14-30 hours I know that it is the time to take the top off my first bottle of Hobgoblin.(not really joking).

I often wish I could ‘lie in’, but I think my working life programmed my body clock for life….and then, as well as that I feel that I must get up because I am reaching the age when folk die in bed!

None of the above was my intention just answered in what would be for many, a fun way, that's all.

Steady away Tads, he's not knocking you, he merely meant that the answer was fairly straight forward. That said, I do believe Less also did military service & that being the case the common acronyms amongst the military community are shared knowledge, we often forget that your everyday "Civvie", isn't quite up to speed with our meanings / turn of phrase. :)

Re: Do You Have A Daily Ritual?

Sorry Dave – when I saw your morning ritual included ‘sss’ I didn’t think of it as meaning ‘sh, sh, and sh’ until I saw Less’s very funny pictorial explanation. Instead I thought it was another three-letter word beginning with ‘s’ but that you were being too much of a gentleman to spell it out. Enough said! (and Taddy, please don’t say you don’t know what that three-letter word beginning with ‘s’ is or Less might get all graphical again, and in this instance maybe it’s better he doesn’t…oops!).

Re: Do You Have A Daily Ritual?

Taddy, stop thinking about your age, which is something you mention now and then, don’t let it worry you. I’m allowed to say that because I’m older than you, (now officially two fat ladies - in bingo lingo) but instead of worrying over something I can’t do anything about I am thankful I am still here. Many don’t make it this far. My morning ritual simply consists of waking up and getting on with things.

Ok Less, I can appreciate that and I love the image, as for the first line of your comment I do not have as many toothy Peggie's as I used to have so I cannot bite as hard as I used to do as a youngster, stay safe, keep posting and we will entertain other Accy Webbers with our humour( or lack of it there of). ;);)

Now then N.C.O. Williams,( I think that is the correct term), how could you possibly know that I have never been in the military?

NCO yes, L/Cpl by the grace of god & to get me to behave I had authority thrust upon me. As to your lack of service I, don't recall you mentioning any but your lad did Tankies was it?

Secondly my dear Watson, as Ma pointed out, you were unaware of one of the most basic of military acronyms ;). Now then, as further confirmation of your civvyness check out the list below, if you've no idea what I'm on about (without mr googlies help) you've not served. :)

Egg Banjo
PPPPPPP
NATO (Brew)
BAOR
Crabs
Gat
POETS
WIMP
Jack
Stand to
Stick man
Colour boy
TAB
KFS
Buckshee
Gash
End Ex

Re: Do You Have A Daily Ritual?

Thanks for that Dave, apart from the "Egg Banjo and the BAOR", I have no idea about the others but I will ask my lad the next time he visits, to answer your question, Yes he served in the First Royal Tank Regiment.
As for me not serving I shall have to put you right, I have served and am still serving as a distinguished officer in the First Foot in the Mouth Regiment stationed at the Peel Park Pub barracks. Stay Safe and stay happy, Taddy

Re: Do You Have A Daily Ritual?

I have not served in the forces, but I think I know some of those.
Buckshee….is free and comes from the word Baksheesh a Persian word and it meant a bribe which I guess is something free.
The P’s…..proper planning prevents pish poor performance.
Crabs….genital pests…lice.
BAOR….British Army on the Rhine.
Egg Banjo….fried egg on a barm cake
POETS…push off early tomorrow’s Saturday

Buckshee = (a freebie, off the books) :)
The 7P's = Proper prep planning, prevents pish poor performance :)
Crabs = although correct by definition, it's not the case with this one :(
BAOR = British Army of the Rheine, but close enough :)
Egg Banjo = Runny egg on army bread, yolk squirts out & you end up strumming it off your kit :)
POETS spot on, but without the cursing :)
KFS again spot on, you're on the promotion board :)

Yee Gods! An Orificer? Someone keep him away from the maps or any grown up decision making! :D

Oh yes, I really love this one as I do have four ferrets that take up the space in the garage where really the car should be parked. Freya, Frigg, Frodo and Fritz are my pets, where as forty or so years ago the ferrets that I kept were trained for catching rabbits in order to feed my two oldest youngsters. I was asked not many years ago by some young (know it all), why I did not go to a supermarket to buy my rabbits, my answer that, come on son, which supermarket sells tinned English rabbits seemed to have fell on deaf ears.

You do know there are other letters & names available? ;)

When I was working with the 1st Batt Yorks Regt, they had 2 frets as Regimental mascots & my mate was their keeper, they used to stay at his house & they'd drive our hound mental when we were down his visiting. :)
Sadly the hound & both frets are long gone.

Regarding Monkey Hanger, Margaret has sent him two PMs and I have sent one. Neither of us has had a reply so it is indeed a concern. Let’s hope he is ok and it is just that he has decided to take a break from Accyweb.
