All Saints
Anyone ... I was at All Saints from about 1951 to 1957 ... as one gets older the memories fade a little. Anyone out there help a Canadian fill in some holes in his past?

Re: All Saints
Hi I was at All saints, but i left a little after you (1981)
But what kind of holes did you want filling, i might know some bits of the place.. plus it`d be interesting to know what the place was like then compared to now. Hope you get all your holes filled. |

Re: All Saints
Sorry Kate .... it was the JWs, I managed to convince them I was a sunni muslim ... Thnks for the info. It's amazing how the names bring back the faces and even the voices. All four of them ... the only one I'm not 100% about is Judith ... were in my class from Kindergarten on. Or is it infant? Ah well, a rose etc. So you're ex would have been two years ahead of me. Who was he; I might have known him too. Eric Slater.

Re: All Saints
Are we talking about All Saint Primary in Clayton? I left there in 1972, Mr. Bradshaw was the headmaster then - lovely man. Also remember Mrs Booth, the sewing teacher, I was useless but she was very patient, so much so that is was a shock when I went to secondary school and was told repeatedly that I was useless :)

Re: All Saints
Mrs Scambler was still there when I started in 1965, she was one of my favourites. I also liked Mrs Bracewell, although she could be a bit scary, she always found time last thing on a Friday to tell us a story & pretended she shouldn't be doing it. She'd shut the classroom door, put her finger to her lips and whisper 'not a word to the vicar' :)

I remember Miss Lindley , the Misses Pilkington, Mr Bradshaw and Mr Kennedy, our regular trips to the church and Sunday school, the 'Converzasione' , school dinners and Miss Wolstenholme looking after us in the yard, Father Christmas visiting 'the baby end'.Happy Days !

Re: All Saints
Anyone got any pics from the late 70's ?
I left in 1980. Mr Meadows was a legend ! |
Re: All Saints
I was there late 50's early 60's and remember Mrs Scambler and Miss Pilkington. I think there were two Pilkington sisters, also used to teach in the Sunday School. Also remember Mrs Bracewell and Miss Burgoyne and Mr Vernon who taught the junior classes.
Does anyone remember the lady who often walked past the school fence singing The Beatles She Loves You, and Susan Maughan's I want to be Bobby's Girl. |
Re: All Saints
Just found this thread. I left in 1968 and remember most of the teachers mentioned. Also Mrs Mason. She and her husband had the newsagents on Pickup Street. Mrs Bracewell made me join the school choir even though my dad said I couldn't sing. Always been grateful to her for that because from then on I've always enjoyed singing and been in a number of choirs.
