Far Holmes & JackHouse

Looking for information and Photographs of Far Holmes Cottage, Rishton. And 3 Jackhouse, Oswaldtwistle. My Grandmother and Great Grandmother where born at these respective locations. Far Holmes was situated about half a mile beyond Church Kirk Bridge almost opposite the weir on the canal at Rishton, there is little to show of its existence other than some footings in the undergrowth.

I know that Jackhouse is still in existence and that No’s 2 and 3 are now one house (I visited the area earlier this week) I would welcome the opportunity to see period photographs of the Jackhouse location dating to the late 1880s and 1890s and Far Holmes dating of any period but especially the turn of the century between 1900 & 1912.

Go to the bottom of the page click on Life & Times Of Oswaldtwistle in the Most Recent Collections box, and they are all in alphabetical order. Good Luck. :D
