Hello Flashy,

I'm from the same branch of the McLeans that you are talking about. My Great-grandad was Archies brother (or is that uncle?, depends on that timeline). However if you have any questions I've got quite a bit of info that I've managed to trace......

Ian McLean

My Dad is Jim McLean and my Mum is Joan Westwood, Less's sister.

Jim McLean (my Dad) is the son of Jim McLean, son of Jim McLean son of Archie McLean (Born 1846) who settled in Accrington around 1890. The progenitor of us i.e. the father of Archie, Angus, Jim, Hugh, Flora etc who are our respective Grandparents and Great Grandparents.

So far as I remember Ians Grandad Jim Mclean, the father of Jim Mclean who is the father of Ian Mclean.
Just to add to the confusion Ian's full name is James Ian Mclean so he is also a Jim AND His initials are:-

As a matter of fact I can't tell you because we always called Jims Dad Mr. Mclean and his mum Mrs. Mclean 'cos we were young and back then it was a sign of respect, (or you'd get a clip around the earhole).

erm, what was it again? I'm sure it was on the tip of my tongue a minute ago, Hugh, erm Francis, no it's gone I'll get it before the nights out.

Two separate McLean families in the Dill Hall area is a coincidence, that's all.

I know another McLean family in Ossy, no relation to me. There's more of them about than you would first think.

Re: Mclean family

No problem. It's a subject that can really hurt the old noggin' once you start looking at family relationships things can get confusing.... What's needed is for you to work out who your relations are are when they were born Then you can start tying events together.... so far I've traced back to 1781. If you can tie into my genealogy then there's at lot of work already been done!

Flashy/Lily,

As far as I know all of the McLeans originating from Accrington/Church/Ossy area in the last 30 years all descend from the same family - Archie and Mary, who came to Accrington from Paisley (Glasgow) via Tottenham (London). If you want any information on them, let me know and I'll let you have what I've got.

I lived near to a bloke called Patel he had a daughter called Fatima, but the nearest to being a relative of the Mcleans he had was that Ian used to go into his newsagents just to peruse the top shelf.

Just picked up on this kikine, Edith and her husband lived on Kingfisher close or Heron Way in Ossy for quite a few years, their son Fred is a mate of mine, he lives up Willows Lane, but I heard only last week that he might be going to live in Cyprus

Thanks Jaysay. Less seems to think I have a sense of humour when only trying to help, although did make me laugh. We have mutual friends, knew Fred and Sybil quite well and they were up Willows lane before I left. Just thought this was part of the Bartrams at the beginning of the thread which it obviously was.
