Hi James
Go to Accrington Library you can log on to Ancestry and download the pages from the 1881 - 1891 and 1901 census returns and get then printed out for 10p per page. If you do it from home it will cost you a fiver Walter Quote:

Re: cockburns holker farm 1880s
A branch of my family tree are the cockburns of Holker Farm. We still have very regular contact with one of their direct descendents. I can send you details in a pm if you want.

Re: cockburns holker farm 1880s
Nearer Holker House was farmed by the Cockburn family until probably the late 1960s early 1970s when it was bought by the R.S.P.C.A It is still the R.S.P.C.A. animal shelter today.
Further Holker House was farmed by an eccentric old chap known locally as "Tommy Two Gun", he acquired the name from the tale he used to tell of when he was in the U.S.A. in the days of prohibition, when he was a member of one of the illicit beer supplying mobs. He used to regale us youngsters with many a tale of life in the U.S.Yours Taddy. |
