Broadley Family

A friend of mine in genealogical circles is interested in the Broadley family who were printers in Clayton. At one time they were Catholics, but became Anglicans. One member of the family was part owner of a spinning mill and another changed the family name to Bradley. She would like to compare notes and share information with anyone with an interest in this family. If you will send me a PM I will pass your address to her - or simply respond to this thread, but be aware that my knowledge of the family is not 100%.

Re: Broadley Family

Hello Bob - my name is Stuart Poulter and my Dad's name was Joseph Poulter(died in 2000). My dad's mum was Mabel Broadley(she died in 1969) and her brothers' names were Billy(William) and Vernon and we think there was one other brother. It would be great to see if there is any connection with your friends family. Out of interest my Dad was a print manager and I was a printer until 10 years ago..
hope to hear from you
Kind regards
Stuart

Re: Broadley Family

Thanks for the swift reply Bob .Mable Broadley was my grandmother who died when i was 6.My father joseph who was Mable Broadleys only child died approx 15 yrs ago.so I'm limited to gaining much information about the Broadley side of the family.i would also be interested in the Accrington publication with photos as my dad was a printer at Broadleys before and after the war, and i was a printer in Leicester until recently.I also have an old photo from approx 1890 of the Broadley family including all the children and servants outside a big house.{no idea where in clayton it is** I was also told that the printers was sold to Robert Maxwell in the 1980s {BPCC** if you could shed any light on it i would be grateful.
kind regards Stuart Poulter
