Barnes Family

About a year ago, I read a thread about a family of this name. I cannot find it using Search. I have a local book , published 1917, previously owned by a Miss Sophia Barnes. Anybody researching this name?

Bob, my maternal grandfather was a Barnes. I think the family was from Bash originally, I've gone back a bit with the family tree but not on that side. I'll have another look although there may not be a link to a Miss Barnes.

Gordon If you have access to the 1911 census, please have a look for her address - almost certainly in Accrington

The only Sophia Barnes in the 1911 census is age 33, residing with her 86 year old Grandmother, Sophia Chatterly at 161 Burnley Rd, they are still there in the 1914 burgess rolls.

Thanks Retlaw The family were still there in 1951. The house is just below Penny House Lane.
