Genealogy; The new 1939 Register
The Government have released a new Register, compiled in 1939 of all the population - not a census like the 10-year one, but similar. It was basically a head count as war looked imminent.
After the war, this Register was used as the basis for the new NHS numbers Registry. Anyone with 'Ancestry' membership or 'Find My Past' membership will have access to it. |

For those of you out there who have an interest in digging up their ancestors.....(not literally)may I commend to you a FREE resource that I have found to be very helpful.
The site is full of records that you can view....it is run by the Mormon Church, but anyone can use it. You have to create an account...but it is FREE....Here is a link https://www.familysearch.org/en/ This site was recommended to me and I have found out lots of stuff for my family tree. Enjoy! |

Well, there you go Taddy.
You DO know that there are no pockets in shrouds don't you? If you really do not want to splash out on a new rig...then there is an alternative option which might suit you. Here is a link that you might want to look at and it might solve your problems.....well as long as your gas driven PC has a USB slot. https://getxtra-pc.io/offer-01/?lpid...iAAEgJhovD_BwE |
Re: Genealogy; The new 1939 Register
I have been accessing this register for a quite a while...for as long as I have been searching.
I think accessibility to more names have been released due to the passage of time. If there is the possibility that someone on the register is still alive(that means less than 100 years old) then you cannot view their details....it is in the 'closed' part of the register. This register is being updated all the time. |
Re: Genealogy; The new 1939 Register
Thanks for the shroud remark Marge, I will give it some thought.

Re: Genealogy; The new 1939 Register
Yes, that is a bit scary....but you have to remember that when the bible was written there was no NHS to look after us coffin dodgers.
Anyway Taddy I have looked in the back of my knockers and it says 14....so that'll do me:) |
