wasnt thinking that of you margaret, but I do know what people generally think when animals are given at this time of year.
our youngest dog is a perfect example - got him 3 years ago on a new years eve - saw an advert in the paper, we went round to see the dog, turns out it was only 10 weeks old and was a christmas pressie for the guys wife - 7 days later she didnt like it and it was up for sale
- out came the new years eve money
and home came the young jack russell , the then owners told me that he likes to eat baked beans & biscuits
- this was a 10 week old puppy - just shook my head in disbelief as I picked him up - people like that shouldnt even think about having pets !
and one of our cats was gotten from blackburn cat rescue - he was found in burnley with burnt feet and broken ribs, left for dead really - we rehomed him and he is a picture of health now although he has a bladder problem where his urine crystalises which means he has to go to the vets every 6 months to have his bladder unblocked. - his last op cost us £250 for 4 days in the vets!! and for his bladder trouble he has to have specialist food to help him which costs a small fortune - he has had a hard life from some nasty people so we think of our house as his retirement home !! - proper diet, another cat to play with, regular vet trips & 24hr medical help and all the sleep he needs !!
come to think of it all our pets are rescue pets....the only thing that isnt a rescue thing is ME - and at times I need it
