ASBO's

In the spirit of peace and quite for locals up here and the fact ASBO's aint working the SE has decide that a law was required. This law has come into force and a village that was a trouble hotspot now cannot have more than 2 people on the streets in a group. The police have an option to move on or arrest the parties involved. Is this going to far or not far enough?

Does that not remove a persons right to protest? Persoanlly I feel it is not the answer as a lot of the scrotes are more than capable of causing trouble all on their lonesome.

Think about it this way, you and your wife and kid are walking down teh street. You are breaking the law?????? Sounds scary doesn't it

That is one of the most unworkable laws I have ever heard!
Just imagine you and a friend (strangers to the town), are walking down the street you spy a constable You approach and ask him for directions.
He would immediatly have to caution you, your friend and himself for forming a group larger than two, he would then if you continued to ask were you can go have to call for another constable to come and take the three of you into custody, if this new constable came near to the illegal group of three he would be guilty of turning it into a group of four and so the whole situation would spiral into insanity as all the police in scotland (with you and your friend) are jammed into one small street in one small village for ever!

but i beg to differ .it is an old law i was talking to a friend on a strret corner in accrington in the late 1960's (both women & in our 20yrs of age) a police car stopped & told us to move on or be arrested for causing an obstruction, i know we were both pregnant at the time but it was ridiculous to say the least, i said we were only "camping" but was told we would get booked. nowt much changed there then .

What you've said is that he threatened you for obstruction, surely this new law is about 'illegal gathering', which would be different.
You should consider yourselves lucky that you had one of the more observant policeman that must have noticed you were pregnant or perhaps he would have threatened you all with 'soliciting' instead!

I wish they would slap a few asbo's on some of the ignorant kids up here in Baxenden,
causing damage and abusing anyone who speaks to them ,
nothing else they try have worked so far.

The police seem to have their hands full with ASBO's and couldnt deal with the non Asbo'ed element so decided to use the new law.

The persons involved were worse than a bunch of saliors on the first nights shore leave after 6 months at sea. The village is remotish and hard to police so it became a place for a free for all by anyone who wanted to. The over 20's were the biggest problem not teens.

Sounds like the village needed a big high electric fence round it, then leave them inside the fence to get on with it

Would cost to much and a group would claim breach of human rights as per the norm in our beloved kingdom.
