Midnight Soccer anyone?

I read with interest that youngsters in Burnley are to be offered free floodlit soccer sessions;timed around Midnight.
This £8,000 scheme is an effort to give the kids something to do.

Can we hope for the enlightened ones on HBC.to copy this idea soon?:not_ripe: :not_ripe:

accy council screw the kids of this borough. u look at blackburn and hte astro turf pitch off barbara castle way adn the one at willows

i was part of a group who went to my local (then) labour councillor to maybe get the pitch at the bottom of lister st converted into an astro turf the kids could use - our delighted councillor told us that plans were already under way

6 months later we found out it was for hyndbrn park school - an extension of hteir playground. and they had applied for fundin externally and had nothing to do wiht the local council.

we then were wanting to apply via the lottery but were held back from that sayin the council wudnt authorise it.

iTS TIME THE KIDS HAD SOMETHING TO OCCUPY THEM OTHER THAN BEING A CONSTANT PAIN IN THE ARTHER!

There are times I wonder if any council realy considers ways to keep kids of street corners and trouble making. All that seems to cross the minds of these people is the cost to install and run. Yet would that not be recouped if the kids are occupied and the council is not shelling out for repairs etc.

Sorry about the shouting but sometimes people in power of conveniently deaf.

the old tennis courts at milnshaw park were torn down and the local kids were invited to come in on the project and help decide what shuold be put there for them

within a few weeks the kids couldnt be arsed with it anymore and the project is now in limbo with an eyesore full of broken bottles and beer cans which incidently is there because the kids put it there

although i wish i could blame HBC for everything i cant and this particular project was wasted because of the bone idleness of the kids

As Chav says the apathy is not just with the HBC or other adults;some kids just cannot be bothered to work towards a goal(pun intended)

I think it sounds a good idea, as long as the kids who are a real nusiance are targeted, and not just kids that already like sport.

I wouldn't want a fourteen year old child of mine wandering the streets afterwards though, on their way home.

That's the problem today, kids have no imagination and when they say that they're bored, parents are expected to flash the cash on some expensive little gismo to keep their 'little darlings' amused! What a load of crock! .... Both Slink and myself have commented on how much fun our childhood was but our parents didn't provide any latest craze and we certainly didn't get to spend hours in front of a TV .... we were outside arranging our own amusement and to keep on thread that was often playing footy in the street with the lads but ony til 9pm in summer and that was if we were lucky!

A nation of spoilt brat kids that's what we have! :(

I know many younger than that who wander the streets late at night because their parents dont give a donald duck about what they are up to or where they are. :(

Yes Garinda,in an ideal world kids would have parent transporting them.In reality they (mostly) would run riot.
