I'm honoured, although slightly disappointed that someone who has clearly had strong and loyal Conservative views in the past is now all but forgotten, save for his musings on a discussion forum that is derided by the very same man he spent years assisting.

Some friend he must be.

Its funny that Ken, friendship is very hard to evaluate really, true friends are few and far between, I have very few, loads of respected acquaintances, but very few true friends, I recon I have about half a dozen, some I've known all my life, one I've only known a few years, but they all have one thing in common, now I'm in very poor health, they still pop in to see me, which shows true friendship. There again Ken just imagine how dull, treads like this would be, everybody agreeing with each other, at least I do throw the occasional hand grenade in the mix before retiring to watching telly:D

That reminds me, Jaysay , of the late Father Bourke of St. Mary's , Ossie .

One Sunday morning he held up one hand and said that is all I need to do to show you how many friends I have , and he added that he probably wouldn't need all the fingers of that one hand to show the number .

Like you he said that he had many acquaintances , but so few friends .

There's a quote , I can't remember by whom , that a friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out .

I don't know about you , but I find as I grow older how shallow human relationships are .

I agree JCB, but you also find out what's what too, I'm kind of with father Burke on that one, but the ones I can count on have proved they're are good people in this world, who still have time for others even when they are out of sight and forgotten by the rest

You don't need to feed a hand, or walk it.
