Micro Chipping
I had the pup micro chipped the other day but it hurt her and she bled. She hasn't had any problems with it since but I was just wondering if that was normal? When you see the dogs chipped on TV they don't even flinch. She's not a soft dog either, the innoculation needle didn't bother her in the slightest.
I always thought the chip went in the scruff of the neck but the vet put it between her shoulder blades? So much for me hoping her first visit to the vets would be a nice visit, I hope it doesn't have a lasting effect on her. |
Re: Micro Chipping
If she's not had any trouble I'm sure she'll be fine.
As for where the vet placed the chip, that all depends on the vet. Our dog has his chip between shoulders. |
Re: Micro Chipping
Cheers TheDA :)
Did it hurt your dog? |
Re: Micro Chipping
I thought they did scruff of the neck, but like you say different vets and all that, you'd think the neck would be less painful though.

Re: Micro Chipping
How old is it Tinks?
I want Benji doing but they said they wont do it till it's 16 week old, maybe cause its only a small breed of dog |
Re: Micro Chipping
It did actually yes and like you I was concerned. But that was six years ago and he likes going to the vet!!! I think it's all the attentions.

Re: Micro Chipping
Thanks again TheDA that's eased my mind.
She's about 13 week I think K.S.H |
Re: Micro Chipping
I dont trust vets at all, think they'd do anything for the money, often prolonging the lives of animals that there's no hope for just to gain more cash. Hope you pup gets over it and isn't too scared of the vets next time.

Re: Micro Chipping
Oh the poor puppy. :( When we had our (now deceased) dog done years ago it was in the scruff of the neck and he didn't seem to feel thing, didn't flinch.

Re: Micro Chipping
How old was your dog when it was chipped Willow? I wonder if it is the position of the chip (scruff better than shoulders) or the age and size of the dog?
It was touch and go whether the chip was in place, the vet scanned it and found it but said to check it's still there when she goes for her 2nd jab next week. I can honestly say if it's not there I'm not going through that again she can stay chip free. |
Re: Micro Chipping
Not sure how old our dog was as he was a stray/rescue dog so not a new puppy but still a puppy if you know what I mean.
I hope all goes well next week and that chip is where it should be. |
Re: Micro Chipping
Nothing to worry about.
When I had my Pup chipped at his second jab he bled for a bit, and sulked for a few hours. Im sure she will be fine.:) |
Re: Micro Chipping
Yeah I know what you mean willow, same as Gabbie is now she's a pup but on the backend of puppyhood.
Cheers Mr D, it just came as a shock. I wasn't expecting it to hurt or any blood. I might stop at home next week and let the other half take her ;) |
Re: Micro Chipping
My dog was chipped when he was 5 months old in the scruff of his neck, it did not seem to bother him. The dog bleeds because the skin is soft when you have it done to young.
