Proof that the world has gone mad
ASBO FOR PLAYING KERBIE!!!!
The police have officially warned a 5yo and 9yo brothers for playing kerbie that they face an ASBO for being out playing. A neighbours complainded to the police about them playing kirbie on a private estate in Kylsyth. The Daily Record - NEWS - ASBO FOR PLAYING KERBIE I thought I had heard everything daft up to this point. |
Re: Proof that the world has gone mad
Im sure there is more then that then whats told. Im sure they wouldnt of just got an asbo for that maybe the kids kept hitting the ball into neighbours gardens or swore at them or maybe broke a window. However the kids might have more offences to there name so maybe that was the last straw? However if im not correct then thats just sad.

Without having the opinion of the compainant, and other residents it does seem a little over the top.

Re: Proof that the world has gone mad
The irony is the gov wants kids to get excercise yet the police at the behest of neiboughs stop it. Is it right to have a child of 5 that fearful that the police will come for him that he dosnt go out to play.
Besides FC you might be right but considering the house prices I think its money motivated. Would you buy a house in an area that has kids playing ball? |
Re: Proof that the world has gone mad
I would or it would be boring i think , kids are kids , you got to think what you was like as a kid and if you where playing your favourtie game like kerbie and then someone says you cant play alot of people on here when they where kids wouldnt of just stopped.
The fact is i think they have previous offences and that was the last straw someone complaining however if it isnt its really sad. |
Re: Proof that the world has gone mad
It depends if there are signs up saying 'No ball games' and if they were on neighbour's property, but even so I would have thought a word to the parents would be enough. An ASBO does seem OTT.

Re: Proof that the world has gone mad
We played footy and cricket even tennis on the grassed roundabout on Townley Avenue as kids. If ASBO's had been around I would have had half a rainforest of em

Re: Proof that the world has gone mad
We had something similar in Kingston ... neighbours complained about kids playing street hockey in a quiet suburb. Imagine, a law against hockey in Canada! Local hockey legends Doug Gilmour and Kirk Mueller weighed in on the side of the kids, and the complainers backed off.
By the way, the world really has gone mad. |
Re: Proof that the world has gone mad
Sadley Eric there is little or no chance of footy stars helping these poor kids with their little prediciment. Good on the lhockey legends for weighing in. :D
