Chip Pans Are Dangerous
No they are not. It’s the drunken fools trying to make some chips after a night on the falling down water who are dangerous.
This morning a fire chief was advocating that all chip pans should be banned. His opinion was based on the fact that far too many callouts were to a chip pan fire. So by his reckoning his next target has to be cars, motorbikes, vans and lorries because they kill and maim more people. It is time that these jumped up officials just did their job and stopped trying to tell us how to lead our lives. |

So are knives, scissors, corkscrews, tins of Spam ,domestic pets, tweezers, aerosols...... need I go on?
Actually it's best if you just roll yourself up in a large roll of bubblewrap and hibernate. Or as my daughter puts it; wrap yourself in bacon and hope a bear doesn't eat you !:) |

Re: Chip Pans Are Dangerous
Anything is dangerous in the wrong hands, if you know you are going to be tempted to start making chips after partaking in a few beers surely the best thing to do would be to buy a deep fat fryer that will switch itself off rather than setting your house in fire!!!

Re: Chip Pans Are Dangerous
Around 25 years ago I came off a night shift at the hospital and nipped in to Blackpool, among a number of Items; I purchased a T-bone steak for my lunch. I had planned to stay awake that day to help me readjust to back to days and to prepare myself to a night on the ****. At around 12.30 that afternoon I slapped my meat on the grill and settled down to some music whilst my treat grilled to perfection. Some two hours later I was awakened by my elderly neighbour shouting “Fire” through my letter box. To cut a long ****ty episode short, my kitchen was destroyed and only the act of shutting my kitchen door and the actions of my neighbour had save my life. Neglect and foolishness causes chip pan and other related kitchen fires not chip pans.

Re: Chip Pans Are Dangerous
apologies in advance , for a bit of a thread wander , I can remember back in the early 50s when plastics were 'new' we had a neighbour lady (who had a big family) who decided it was a good idea to use her new plastic washing up bowl to make a potato pie/lancashire hot pot , instead of her usual white enamel bowl .......I remember lots of black smoke but no lasting damage...think it was the first time I ever heard a fireman use the 'f' word
funny the stuff you remember :D |
Re: Chip Pans Are Dangerous
remember one morning about 5-00, making some toast before going to work, dozed back off on the kitchen stool, and nearly gassed the bungalow out, had even forgot to light the grill. it aint chip pans that are dangerous, its any silly buggar in a kitchen, not being alert/paying attention, that fire cheif is an overpaid clown.
