You don't stop caring about your health as you get older in fact I would imagine most people take more care than they did when younger

Ooooh exciting thing though, on the news this morning it was announced that the NHS has agreed that if health care abroad is an option then they will fund it. I didnt catch the full story as I had to go to the doctors but it sounded exciting!
They will fund the operation but not the travelling or accomodation costs.

I'm not saying that, but its stressed to younger people that they should eat healthy and exercise so they dont get obese and everything, yet you cant actually get to see the doctor about health concerns, and then you end up in hospital because it's too late to do anything about it.

When they know you are ill, it seems you get fantastic care, but at the earliest possible stages when things need to be seen to there is just too much delay.

Well if you want something you should go and get it really. That is a fantastic step in the right direction for us as patients on behalf of the NHS and in future it might get even better to cover travel expenses and other costs, but the fact that they will cover the costs for treatment abroad is brilliant I would say.

Precisely. We are taxed to the hilt, we should expect a good health service where we can actually be treated.

Think you need to change your doctor if you can't see him when you clearly needed to. Most doctors will fit you in the same day if you need to see someone.

At my doctors you see the nurse and they decide wether ya need to see a doctor:rolleyes:.. or they just diagnose you and just get the prescription

Are you happy with that? Nurses do seem to be getting a lot more responsibility in quite a lot of areas. In fact most nurses know the patients better than the doctors these days.

I had to stop and think what you were talking about then - we'd strayed from the point again! :D

On the subject of this idea of NHS funding treatment abroad, as I heard it on the radio you will have to pay up front and then try to claim it back. It was reported that would limit the number of people who would be able to take advantage of it before you even take into account the cost of transport and accommodation.
