I thought a new bingo hall was planned for Eastgate ... any news of it?

Re: east gate

Whatever it will be, the job opportunities that it will open up, will only cover for example the staff that will all lose their jobs at The Works

There are a lot more closures than there are openings:(

Re: east gate

speaking of eastgate.....wonder what will happen to the building when the tax office shuts??

MargaretR 12-03-2008 15:47

Re: east gate

That closure is a criminal waste of money -- it has been up less than 15 years.
Many staff there face moving to Liverpool or Manchester -- more locals thrown on the dole

Quite right Margaret, My daughter work for Revenue and customs for 19 years in the Burnley office, morale is that low and nobody knows whats going on, they are treated with the mushroom concept, feed them bull sh*t and keep them in the dark, I think its information on a need to know basis, and they don't need to know. My daughter left last October, and it was a weight of her shoulders

The tax offices were all sold off in 2002 to a private investment company
BBC NEWS | Business | Revenue sell-off to tax haven firm
The staff at Accy tax office have always been a pleasure to deal with, but with the introduction of online filing of tax returns you could see the way this was going. God help you if you have a query in the future.
