Return of an Ozzy perv

A paedophile who has been booted out of Australia will be back in Britain today. Raymond Horne who left Britain when he was 5 years old and is now 61 has been ship back here although his offences were cmmitted down under. Experts say that having a 43 year history of assaults on young boys he is likely to offend again. The Aussies have declaired him an "unlawful citizen" not doubt we will find him a nice home and plenty of benefits to boot, I just wonder if the boot was on the other foot how easy would it have been to send some one back to Oz, your thoughts on the matter

Presumably he'll have 'done his time' over in Australia or else they wouldn't let him come over here.

Re: Return of an Ozzy perv

Given the general view on here that all foreign criminals should be deported I think it would be hypocritical to suggest they shouldn't send him back.

It's probably more punishment sending him back to live here than it was in prison in Australia :(

It says hes due back here today and will be hand over to officers from Scotland Yards Child Protection Squad, but like Dave says he must have done his time or the Aussies wouldn't have sent him back, so were he will end up god only knows

He's done 12 years according to the radio this morning. There are some complaints from the Aussies who say it would have been better to keep him there where he is known than send him back to where he will be unnoticed.

It may be the general view that foreign criminals should be deported but it doesn't happen. If the bloke has lived in Oz since he was five they should keep him there. We have enough pervs walking free over here.

well its sound just about right for our stupid lot, accept any old rubbish, wonder what the legal position would be if our lot had the guts to say NO?

Somewhat ironic coming as it does, in the same week that Ghurkas who fought for this country, but retired before 1997 are protesting because they're not allowed UK citizenship. Madness...sheer and utter madness.

I had a conversation about this today. I said the Aussies have the best Idea. I think we should bloody follow their example.

Just another example of soft touch Britain.
If he has lived in Australia all that time surely he has aussie citizenship and shouldn't be our problem.
Probably won't be long before he offends again, the aussies should have cut his goolies off, that should stop him and others like him!

This was all in the news in Australia last year when we were there. The fella's release date was looming and they were discussing sending him back here then.
Australian citizenship is not automatically given, no matter how long you've lived there, it has to be applied for. This chap has never applied for citizenship so is therefore still a British citizen
As a returning citizen, he technically isn't allowed any benefits or free healthcare etc until he has paid into the system. When my brother came back from NZ, he was entitled to nowt and had only been away for 5 years. If this guy gets handouts I'll be really annoyed (along with the rest of the population). :(

Even I would never make a joke about what he has done to those children. You should be ashamed of yourself.

My comment related to his appearance only - why even think that I condone his actions

This is typical, nice to criminals nasty to our friends. Disgusting.

I'm not quite sure why people think we we are soft in taking him back. We have no option, he is British and has been deported from another country. We might all agree we don't want him back but there's naff all we can do about it.

That point is the front page today in the Mail cashy, some how we always get our priorities wrong in this country. That is why we have become the do-gooding capital of the world, the only country that stick ridgidly to the European Human Rites Act is the good old UK:(

Re: Return of an Ozzy perv

I realise that the government have to accept this individual, as a British citizen. It just seems somewhat ironic that it's happening in the same week that the same government's disgraceful attitude towards the Ghurkas has hit the headlines.

Also, I wonder what would have happened if it was the other way round? If it was an Australian citizen who we wanted to deport? Would he be on his way by now...or would some highly-paid human rights lawyer like Mrs Blair be pleading his cause?

And before some smart Alec says it, yes, it would be better if those pleading their cause could spell their name correctly! :o
