It's difficult to comment on this without seeing the full story. Where did you hear of it? Newspaper? Could you post a link? I'm sure the lady in question would not have been issued with a fine if she hadn't broken a rule or it could be a simple error.......more details please. :D |

Re: fined for free parking
Was she parked over the lines? ie taking 2 spaces??
|
Re: fined for free parking
Ahh they think it's cos of the yellow lines next to her car
Do they get full training when becoming a traffic warden? Or are they just thrown onto the streets after a kick up the backside with a pen and paper in hand? |

Not Australia then. :D As I first thought, it appears that an error was made. There was confusion between the parking bay and the yellow lines on the street. The lady contested the fine and the fine was cancelled. |
Re: fined for free parking
The fine has been revoked as a gesture of goodwill according to the link.

Re: fined for free parking
Looking at the picture don't think I would chance parking there in the first place.

Re: fined for free parking
There was no story to tell really was there?
They must be hard up for news today. I've had more exciting things than that happen to me today.....I won't contact the Telegraph though. :D |

Went to work. Going to see Jenny Eclair at King George's Hall tonight. Not exactly edge of your seat stuff but a better tale than a cancelled parking fine. :p:D |
Re: fined for free parking
There IS a story there!! As Bernadette pointed out: "We have cancelled the penalty charge notice as a gesture of goodwill and reviewed the enforcement of this area to stop any re-occurrence in the future."
No apology, but as a "gesture of goodwill" they are cancelling the ticket issued - pompous bureaucrats!!!:(:( |
Re: fined for free parking
Parking attendants are like that, I got fined for parking with my rear tyre no more than 3" on double yellows. Was not impressed but had no choice but to park there, had appointment at drs for boys and there was no-where else close by. I paid it but wasnt happy in doing so

Re: fined for free parking
GESTURE OF GOODWILL ?????
That implies the fine was valid and it bloomin well wasn't. They should have offered a grovelling apology! |
Re: fined for free parking
Parking wardens will do anything for extra money ( they get extra money per ticket ) ! Once my dad was dropping off a delivery and there was no room for his van in the loading bay, so he had to park it at the front and there was a parking warden there when he parked it so he asked if he could park it there as he would only be gone two minutes and the warden said it would be fine, when he came out the warden ran away and had ticketed him!!!

Re: fined for free parking
The Traffic Warden who issued the ticket must be as thick as they come. Nay thicker.
The car park is private property belonging to the bank. |
