A fixed camera would be a good idea facing towards union road just before the houses. |
Re: another young boy
You don't mention how old the boy is - was he at the youth centre at the time, you say it was late at night? I only ask because sometimes I've seen them playing 'chicken' around there, now I hope that wasn't the case here and I genuinely hope the boy is ok but that's another reason for people to be warned to slow down at the approach to the youth clubs.

Re: another young boy
Thats a good point Pete, was the boy walking or riding a bike.
We often jump to the conclusion that the driver is always at fault. I have hit somebody with a car almost 10 years ago. He just stepped out from behind a wagon as I was almost stopped at traffic lights. I do hope the boy gets better but the driver of the car will be a mess as well I am sure. Different kind of mess I know but it does effect you. |

Hope he gets better soon.
Found this on the bbc website BBC NEWS | England | Lancashire | Schoolboy hurt in road accident Schoolboy hurt in road accident A 13-year-old boy is seriously ill in hospital after being knocked down by a car in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire. Corey Taylor had been crossing Harvey Street in the town at about 1900 GMT on Friday when he was hit by a Toyota Corolla car, Lancashire Police said. The teenager sustained serious head injuries and was taken to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. Police are not treating the incident as suspicious, but have appealed for any witnesses to contact them. Sgt Mick Young, from Lancashire Police, said: "The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and provided full details to police. He is uninjured but is in shock. "A full investigation has now been launched." |

It happens a lot on that road... kids are always playing chicken there... they also throw things at cars ( this happened to me a few weeks ago) Don't know the facts behind this case.... however in the past there are some kids on there that should know better, its a wonder none of them have been killed: Lesson learnt , probably not: |
Re: another young boy
What I dont understand is this, in areas where there is a large ethnic population, there are masses of traffic calming measures, from speed ramps, cameras, 20 mph limits, and plenty of streets shut down at one end or made one way, (I know this to be true in Bury, around heywood st, in accrington, willows lane and blackburn road, and bash in blackburn, certain parts of great harwood) but there appear to be far fewer where the population is ethnic minority (ramsbottom is a good example), I hope the lad in question is ok, and also the driver, but it does make me think that the local authority could do more in certain areas, and I am not being racist, this is fact.

Oh I do hope the child makes a full and speedy recovery and the driver can overcome this accident.
