The over 60's pass is issued by lancashire county council for use throughout england and wales .... An under 16's pass is issued by the bus company.

Yes but the ID to prove you qualify for that pass isn't. You get that from the Town Hall.

(Unless things have changed in the last couple of years lol!)

True but Transdev accept "Young Person's Saver Card (or similar proof of age) " and your good old Council run Rossy bus company issues them free. You can get them from Rawtenstall Library free. I wonder if Transdev will keep to their information and accept them?

Re: Transdev

Transdev say they will accept similar proof of age but they wouldn't accept my son's passport when I was taking him to hospital for x-rays. I would've thought that was a pretty definitive 'proof of age' document but the driver wasn't happy about it.

No, because, they want you to get a pass, so they pocket on the £2!!

Sorry I should have wrote....why should I PAY to prove my daughters age!!
If they gave the passes for free then there would be no problem, but like i said its another way for the company to make more money.

Get a friend to take you everywhere?

For our little girl from clayton to ossy and back monday to friday costs us £3:50. That will do nicely.

Because maybe then there will be less 'kids' conning the system getting cheap bus travel when they're too old for it. When I was younger loads of people would scam the system and say they were younger than they were, the bus driver couldn't do very much except waste time arguing.

If everyone paid what they were supposed to perhaps the adult fare would be a bit cheaper because more people would be paying it!

Flashy, which bus firm were you on about when you said they won't be on the road much longer coz they were in talks with Transdev?

As far as I know the little red buses that come down Barnes St are M & M, or Iqy's buses as some people know them.

Whatever happened to customer relations ? It obviously suits the bus company ( I'm guessing they are obliged by law to offer reduced fares, but I may be wrong ) to ask all people who are entitled to reduced fares to have a pass, it saves the customer hassle and the driver hassle. But why do some people have to pay for it. Rossendale transport issue one free of charge, why do greedy companies like Transdev, who not content with running a monopoly, also have 'extras'.

I disagree with the monopoly, but I think it would be better comparing it with another private bus company. Rosendale Transport is wholly owned by the council and are likely to be in a different financial situation.

M&M hun

saying that though, me and my sis (bro-in-law who told us this's wife) saw some brand new M&M buses the other day and just stood there and laughed at what the bro-in-law had been told

Re: Transdev

its proper title is Rossendale Transport Ltd.

It is a private company. The shareholders are the council. It has to run exactly the same as any other private company. In otherwords what they get over the counter is what they have to work with. They dont get any cash from the council.
