Re: E20 summit
So, Mancie, you're against the snail eaters' and the Huns' move to curb the excesses of rampant capitalism by greater regulation of the financial markets, including the naming and shaming of offshore tax havens?
I, therefore, name and shame you as an out-and-out Tory! :p |

Re: E20 summit
So, the French and Germans are Tories for wanting tighter regulation of financial markets? But the British and Yanks who want less regulation are somehow more left wing?
Sometimes, Mancie, I worry about you...I really do. |
Re: E20 summit
no need to worry..I've made my outlook pretty clear on here many times.. anything that involves a tory agenda is a ball to bat... whack it over the line.. no worries from me.. simple and plain.

Ok.. just for you Wynonie...I don't care what any Tory party do or are about to do..here, or anywhere else on this planet I oppose it... I am anti Tory.. end of.. now that should be plain enough even for an Accy Stan supporter!

In fact, the opposite is true. France and Germany want tighter regulation of financial markets to curb the worst excesses of capitalism, whereas we want less regulation. In other words, Mancie, you've been proved completely and utterly wrong. Now is that clear enough, even for a Blackburn-born, London-dwelling plastic Manc? :D |
Re: E20 summit
I am not sure that the colour of your rosette makes any difference in this caes. The leading politicians of the world have got together in order to sort out the whole mess but instead of getting round the table and finding a solution they do what politicians do best, fall out amongst themselves.
They are all from the same mould and our only hope is that Barack Obama can unite them long enough for them to thrash out a compromise. I am with the French and Germans on this as the whole mess appears to have been caused by the greedy financial sectors of the USA and the UK. I am not too hopeful that this bunch can sort anything out, take their organisation of the meetings. Do they hold them in a fortified castle, of which we have many, where security would be very easy to control and demonstrators could easily be kept away? No, they hold the meetings in the middle of a busy city and disrupt the lives of many thousands of people. |

Until, that is, I came to the Texaco Garage, just opposite the Times Editorial offices and by a slight bend on the road. A perfect ambush position ( for those who know about these things). There sat on the wall, was a very swarthy looking indivdidual with a large canvas bag at his feet. Sticking out of this bag was about 2ft of pipe, 4" diameter. The nearest cop was some distance away. "Bloody Hell", I thought, "It's the back end of an RPG!".......and the cops didn't appear to have spotted it! Just as I was working out what to do, the guy bent down to open the bag...this was getting hot, very hot. I looked up, and lo and behold, there coming up the road was the French President and his entourage. "Good Luck, mate", I whispered, and walked on. This is a true story. Well, almost. |

I agree ... living as I do in a country that was smart enough to regulate its banks, and one, that as a result, has the strongest banking system in the world. |
